Get ready to feel the heat. And we don't mean from the sun. There's a lot of hot stuff going on at The Mirage. The resort's iconic attraction (and really one of the more popular attractions on the Las Vegas Strip) is a volcano. It sits right in front of the property in a tranquil lagoon...at least this lagoon is tranquil until the volcano erupts, which happens several times a night. Steam rises. Water shoots up. Lava spews. And flames dance. Seriously, they do. Choreographed to a soundtrack created by Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart and tabla player Zakir Hussain, these little fireballs have some smokin' moves. The volcano isn't the only attraction at The Mirage. Everyone who enters usually stops to snap a photo in the tropical atrium. Under a towering dome just inside the resort's front doors, it's teeming with exotic flowers. And then over behind the front desk, you'll become engrossed with a huge aquarium that houses more than 450 fish.Speaking of where the wild things are, you can't leave the resort without visiting Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. Built for education and preservation, these two habitats offer you the rare chance to view leopards, white tigers and white lions (say hello to the adorable white lion cubs -- Madiba, Timba-Masai and Freedom for us when you go) as well as bottlenose dolphins. Bet you didn't think you'd see all those animals in Vegas? And then there's the entertainment at The Mirage. The Beatles "LOVE" by Cirque du Soleil, Terry Fator, Boyz II Men: each one is a truly remarkable show. So what should you do about them? See all three!"LOVE" takes place in a circular, custom-built theater. Not only will the music wow you (it comes from The Beatles' original recordings), but the imaginative props and costumes will transport you to another time. Fator, a singing ventriloquist, and his collection of puppets (characters like Winston the Impersonating Turtle and country singer Walter T. Airdale) will have you in stitches. And ladies will swoon in the aisles at the "Mowtownphilly" melodies of Boyz II Men -- those smooth-as-silk singers!Plus, thanks to the ongoing Aces of Comedy series, comedians like Jay Leno, Ray Romano, Tim Allen, Kathy Griffin and Daniel Tosh swing by the resort on select weekends to crack audiences up with their antics.Dining at The Mirage is another pleasure. In just a short walk, you'll pass by Stack Restaurant & Bar by chef Brian Massie; Japonais, where East meets West in a wonderful way; and Portofino, which features Italian classics with a modern twist. At Tom Colicchio's Heritage Steak, all kinds of meats are prepared over open flames in either wood-burning ovens or on charcoal grills. Go ahead...try and choose...all of these restaurants are delicious!More eateries are tucked into other corners of The Mirage. Open to the casino, the smells coming from Samba, a Brazilian steakhouse that serves rodizio-style meals, will make your mouth water. The Chinese restaurant Fin showcases live seafood -- steamed, baked or wok-fried. For a sandwich stuffed beyond belief, head to the Carnegie Deli. Burgers of all invention along with five varieties of fries are prepared at BLT Burger. And then there's the resort's buffet, Cravings, where you'll feel like you're strolling down a street crammed with international cuisine.Actually, if you want to spend time on a famous street, check out Rhumbar. This cool lounge has an outdoor patio where you'll have a fabulous view of the Strip. Kick back here with either a refreshing mojito or a cigar and just take it everything in.Looking for a place to party? Then go to 1 OAK Las Vegas, a nightclub imported from New York City. Divided into two separate rooms with their own bars and music formats, you never know who you might see. Maybe hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis? Or one of the Kardashians? The list of celebrities who have passed through 1 OAK's doors is endless. When The Mirage opened in 1989, it was one of the first true megaresorts on the Las Vegas Strip. A hottie of a property way back then, today it continues to fan those flames.

Is there a personal safe in room? For disabled persons can soft beds be requested when checking in?
Yes, there was a personal safe in our room. I can not address the issue of soft beds, though.
