With more than 25 years of success on the Las Vegas Strip, Legends in Concert has become a mecca for tribute artists around the world. The show features only the crème de la crème of performers who pay tribute to the most iconic entertainers in the world. The cast consistently changes, giving audiences new faces and voices to marvel at. The performance we saw began with a stunningly realistic Rod Stewart (John Anthony), who swung his mic stand as he sauntered around the stage singing hits like "Tonight's the Night" and "Maggie May."Pop princess Britney Spears (Katie Murdock) danced nonstop while she sang "I'm a Slave 4 U," "Oops I Did It Again" and other favorites in her signature pouty voice. From her backup dancers' choreography to her tight, shiny costumes, the act was a convincing mimic of the "real" music videos that played simultaneously on the theater's giant screens.Damian Brantley brought the moonwalking magic of Michael Jackson to life in "Billy Jean," and the Legends dancers were ghoulishly great in "Thriller," which was performed in full, accompanied by the original video.Kate Steel made an appearance as Lady Gaga but, true to her character, didn't seem to care that she had. Gaga's costumes were out in force, from leotard to bubble dress, but the real treat was Steel's redesign of "Edge of Glory," in which she paid tribute to the original artist's talent as a pianist.Of course, Elvis Presley (Shawn Klush) topped off the show with a flashy display of hip-swivels and stage slides. He broke with Las Vegas tradition by leading with "Heartbreak Hotel" instead of "Blue Suede Shoes" (in fact, he never sang the latter). "Burning Love" was an audience favorite, and Klush hammed it up, demanding kisses on the cheek from women in the crowd and then turning quickly to peck them on the mouth instead. Elvis closed the show with "Viva Las Vegas," and the performers led the way out of the theater, wishing the guests lots of luck.Legends in Concert earns distinction among shows on the Strip for leaving no noticeable breaks in performance because its several stars each play short sets. There is no down-time for re-arranging or re-costuming. In an afternoon or an evening with Legends, you'll be sure to get a whole lotta star power for your money.-- By Haley Etchison
