A lush, tropical-themed resort, Mandalay Bay offers a variety of accommodation choices -- from the relaxed ambience of its main towers to the sheer luxury of Delano Las Vegas, the contemporary all-suite adjoining tower. With an enviable location on the southern tip of the Strip, just a short distance from the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, Mandalay Bay not only features all the comforts of home, but also an array of restaurants, attractions, bars and entertainment options that are worlds beyond the ordinary. This 120-acre hotel is all things to all people. Families, couples, singles, business travelers, the college crowd, seniors...everyone is catered to here. Massive in size and grand in architecture, Mandalay Bay is an events marvel. Not only are world-class concerts and world-championship sporting contests hosted in the 12,000-seat Mandalay Bay Events Center, but you'll also discover all sorts of functions in the three-story, 1.7 million-square-foot Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Other venues at the resort are always rocking -- like the House of Blues concert hall and its fashionable Foundation Room, which sits high atop the property on the 43rd floor."Michael Jackson ONE," created by the estate of Michael Jackson and Cirque du Soleil, is an over-the-top visual and audio experience is meant to evoke Jackson's creative genius. Filled with his music, the show follows four misfits on a transformative adventure that will end on a note of unity, harmony and hope for a better world. In addition, the beach-loving resort has devoted itself completely to the sun-seeking pleasures of life. Take the Mandalay Bay Beach, for example. This 11-acre water complex is comprised of more than 2,700 tons of sand. There are also four swimming pools, a lazy river and a 1.6-million-gallon wave pool. Guests can while away afternoons in extravagant private gazebos, cabanas and bungalows. Concerts are held on a huge outdoor stage during the summer months, while gaming is available in the Beachside Casino and food and drinks are served in the open-air Beach Bar & Grill. Adults will likely be lured into the secluded, European-style Moorea Beach Club, which has enticing daybeds, opium beds, dipping pools and its own poolside bar.At Mandalay Bay, guests also have a unique opportunity to explore a remarkable collection of marine predators and habitats in Shark Reef. At 1.6 million gallons, the aquarium is one of the largest and most sophisticated in the world. There are more than 2,000 animals on display here, including 15 different types of sharks and a rare Komodo dragon.Only a mythical resort like Mandalay Bay could bring you eating beyond the sumptuous. It features more than 20 restaurants spread throughout the complex offering everything from gourmet dining to quick-and-easy favorites. Awaken your taste buds at master chef Rick Moonen’s RM seafood, which is known for the inventive seafood menu and sprawling sushi/raw bar. Moonen's steampunk-inspired RX Boiler Room is located on the second floor of RM seafood. Along with unforgettable cuisine, renowned chef Charlie Palmer's award-winning Aureole features a spectacular four-story wine-tower attended to by "wine angels" on a high-tech suspension system. Enjoy the exquisite creations at Fleur by Hubert Keller and in Stripsteak, where chef Michael Mina uses only sustainable foods like all-natural meat, line-caught seafood and fresh produce. Kumi Japanese Restaurant and Bar showcases the innovative Japanese cuisine of chef Toshiyuki Motoyama. Island life was made for laid-back meals al fresco at the Border Grill, which boasts vibrant Mexican dishes by chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger. Citizens Kitchen and Bar is a delicious American bistro that's open 24 hours. Grab a casual bite at Rí Rá, Raffles Café, The Noodle Shop, Slice of Vegas or the Burger Bar, indulge in an abundant variety of favorites at the Bayside Buffet or devour the Baja-influenced cuisine at Hussong's Cantina -- as no matter what, Mandalay Bay's dining scene is sure to satisfy your appetite. At the resort, there's also a wide variety of places to dance, soak up sounds spun by a DJ, chug a beer or share an intimate nightcap. In Eyecandy Sound Lounge & Bar, you'll find an elegant lounge setting along with high-tech touch tables that allow you to create images and send messages to fellow patrons. Delight in live entertainment, sexy libations and a stunning view at Mix Lounge in Delano Las Vegas. For a fun and unique experience, step into the Minus 5 Ice Lounge, where you can sit on an ice couch and drink from an ice glass, or the speakeasy-style 1923 Bourbon & Burlesque by Holly Madison. Red Square marked by the massive, headless Lenin statue, also possesses an ice bar along with 200 varieties of vodka. The nightclub Light, the first ever turned on by Cirque du Soleil, merges state-of-the-art production, theatrics and world-renowned DJs and performers.Catch your favorite sporting events on 17 giant screens placed throughout the resort's expansive, 300-seat race and sports book. You can also feast on snacks like pastrami sandwiches and burgers at the Sports Book Grill.Dedicated to delighting the senses of every guest, Mandalay Bay has two spas, Spa Mandalay and the Bathhouse at Delano Las Vegas, both of which offer an unparalleled range of culturally inspired world treatments and therapeutic services. The Cardio Center has everything you need to stay in shape while on vacation, including the latest cardio and strength-training equipment. And famed tattoo artist Mario Barth has brought Starlight Tattoo to the House of Blues, where guests can get inked by their choice of Japanese, Samoan or Western techniques.Mandalay Bay features plenty of shopping as well. Forget Madison Avenue and Rodeo Drive. The Shoppes at Mandalay Place offer an equally impressive atmosphere. Along with all the fashion and accessories stores located on a 100,000-square-foot sky bridge that connects Mandalay Bay and Luxor, you'll come across eclectic merchants like a barber spa, a sock market and the largest Guinness store outside of Ireland.Rounding out the hotel's wealth of amenities are three wedding chapels, a poker room and a 135,000-square-foot casino with everything from Batman-themed slots to blackjack, craps and roulette. There is even a complimentary, 24-hour tram that runs between Mandalay Bay, Luxor and Excalibur.Your experience as a guest at Mandalay Bay will feel just like home, only happier -- thanks to spacious rooms and suites that are artfully designed and contain upscale amenities like pillow-top beds, big-screen plasma TVs, iHome clock radios, cordless phones, multi-jet spa tubs and more.  The promise of exotic extravagance combined with every type of dining and entertainment alternative imaginable is yours at Mandalay Bay. You could stay here for a week -- without leaving -- and every day will still be filled with new experiences. It truly provides you with the best of Las Vegas in one resort destination.-- By Renée LiButti

hotel and staff was AMAZING despite the hectic check they had.! systems were down and they were doing everything manually! check in took about 2 hrs and took about 45 min for bell desk to bring up bags. it is also at the END of the strip. not centrally located at all. maybe when we're old and rich we'll stay there again.. but next time will stay somewhere more central or even downtown!

You can't miss the Luxor in Las Vegas. The giant pyramid-shaped resort named for an ancient Egyptian city shines the world's strongest light beam into the sky each night. As happens in history, things change. Since opening in 1993, the 30-story architectural wonder has evolved. The Luxor now has a more contemporary, less ancient Egyptian feel.Although you'll still see replicas of Cleopatra's Needle and the giant sphinx outside as well as enjoy the stunning rendition of the Great Temple of Ramesses II upon entering the world's largest atrium, everywhere else you'll encounter a hipper, more high-energy vibe.Overall, the Luxor is an excellent, affordably priced resort sandwiched between Mandalay Bay and Excalibur on the southern end of the Strip. (Note: A free tram provides easy access to both those properties.) Here, guests can do it all. There are numerous entertainment options, good restaurants and fascinating exhibits, along with convenient access to a world-class retail complex -- The Shoppes at Mandalay Place -- situated on the sky bridge connecting the Luxor to Mandalay Bay.This hotel is ideal for leisure, business and family travelers. There are 4,400 rooms and suites housed among the pyramid and two 22-story towers. In the pyramid, guests revel in riding the four "inclinators," which zip up the structure at a 39-degree angle. Slanted glass windows also add to the distinctive décor. The twin towers, on the other hand, offer more traditional accommodations. In both settings, the rooms are air-conditioned, well-appointed, come with 27-inch televisions and have high-speed internet access -- so your stay is guaranteed to be comfortable. In terms of entertainment, the Luxor caters to a wide range of interests. Laugh it up while watching the antics of prop comedian Carrot Top, or be mystified by "Criss Angel Believe." Cirque du Soleil joined forces with the "Mindfreak" magician to create this haunting show filled with spectacular illusions. Sexy dancers prance around nightly in "Fantasy," while "Menopause the Musical" gives mature women who are either facing or have lived through "The Change" something to chuckle about. And the hot urban dance crew Jabbawockeez perform in the show "PRiSM." The production features a state-of-the-art set, cutting-edge technology, inventive costumes and the latest music combined with a specially designed, custom-built theater.Although not a dining powerhouse, there are several standout restaurants in the Luxor. T&T (Tacos & Tequila) features a combination of traditional and modern Mexican cuisine from celebrated chef Richard Sandoval. Decorative metallic art pieces that hang from the ceiling add to the rock 'n' roll atmosphere, as do an array of tequila-based drinks. Rice and Company is another innovative eatery serving healthy twists on traditional Chinese and Japanese cuisines. It also offers tropically influenced variations of sushi, sashimi, hibachi and teriyaki. The Luxor's dining options are rounded out by the gourmet steak and seafood restaurant Tender and the kosher-style Backstage Deli. More the Buffet is located in its own special area just an escalator ride down from the main casino floor. A trendy food court is helmed by McDonald's along with L.A. Subs and Salads, Benanno's New York Pizzeria and The Original Chicken Tender Co. Plus, Public House, a sophisticated bar and pub with American-style cuisine and East Coast roots, opened recently.Liquidity is the central hot spot for nightlife at the Luxor, and as such it lies at the center of the resort. You'll be mesmerized by all the eye-catching water and lighting effects. Posh LAX is another featured nightclub. Behind gothic-like gates, it sprawls out over two floors and attracts a young, stylish crowd. A more intimate nightlife experience is available next door at Savile Row, which alludes to the infamous London Street of the same name. Alternatively, Flight and Aurora provide more laid-back bar experiences.Guests of all ages will want to investigate Luxor's two museum-quality exhibits. "BODIES...The Exhibition" illustrates the inner workings of the human body by showcasing real bodies and organs, while "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition" tells the story of the doomed ship through a display of authentic artifacts and re-creations of the Grand Staircase, the Promenade Deck and a first-class cabin. Although small in comparison to other spas on the Strip, Nurture Spa and Salon has a cheerful, rejuvenating outlook combined with an extensive menu of massages, facials and body treatments. Four large pools, a whirlpool and 12 private cabanas make up the Luxor's five-acre pool area. And more than 120,000 square feet of gaming awaits on the casino floor, including a vibrant race and sports book and the Bruce Buffer Poker Room.Friendly and accommodating, the Luxor offers a unique setting that makes a great base from which to venture anywhere in Las Vegas. And when the day is done, you'll have a comfortable bed in the pyramid or the adjoining towers to come home to.-- By Renée LiButti

The Golden Nugget, which is located in the heart of downtown, feels like a property you'd find on the Strip. Even though it's got a long history, nothing about it is dated. The Golden Nugget is a dynamic resort with a hip attitude and doors that open out onto all the excitement of Fremont Street.  Guests will be right at home in any of the stylish rooms in the hotel's four towers. But it's the Golden Nugget's Rush Tower that has raised the bar on accommodations in downtown with its sophisticated and spacious suites. Boasting a contemporary design that reflects the vibrant scene just steps away, these suites provide every luxury imaginable. This includes pillow-top mattresses, feather down comforters, 42-inch plasma TVs and stunning views of downtown and the Strip's skyline. If you're looking for entertainment, the resort's showroom is stocked with star power. Impressionist Gordie Brown brings nearly a hundred celebs -- from icons like Elvis and Michael Jackson to Aaron Neville and Sylvester Stallone -- to life onstage. Of course, there is always live music and free Viva Vision sound and light shows to enjoy as part of the popular Fremont Street Experience attraction. The Golden Nugget's pool, dubbed The Tank, is an attraction in its own right. Guests will feel like they're at a water park when careening down a three-story, enclosed slide that goes through an aquarium filled with sharks. Plus, there's a luxurious oasis all around -- complete with daybeds and cabanas so you can soak up the sun and have some privacy at the same time. Drinks are always available at the H2O Bar. Another two-level, infinity-edge pool, called The Hideout, can be accessed from the third floor of The Tank. It's for adults only.   If aquariums are your thing, be sure to have a meal in the Chart House restaurant. Its bar wraps around a 75,000-gallon tropical aquarium filled with more than 1,000 colorful fish. In addition to the freshest seafood imaginable, you'll love the juicy steaks. Aficionados of Far East delights will have trouble choosing between Lillie's Asian Cuisine and Red Sushi. Go to the Grotto for a menu packed with Italian classics and a delightfully bright and open setting. Claim Jumper serves hearty portions of classic American food like burgers, sandwiches and ribs. Cadillac Mexican Cantina & Tequila Bar is the perfect place to get your south-of-the-border favorites like tacos and enchiladas, and it has a selection of more than 70 boutique tequilas. And it would be hard to find a more elegant steakhouse in Las Vegas than Vic & Anthony's with its dark wood paneling, dim lighting and leather-backed chairs. For something quick and easy, simply line up for The Buffet.Looking for a place to party? On the resort's second floor, the balcony at Gold Diggers reigns as Fremont Street Experience's most exclusive lookout point. When you step inside, there's a great bar as well as music from yesterday and today for dancing. Downstairs, the Rush Lounge is the hippest spot to sip signature cocktails while mixing and mingling, or you can order one of 40 different brews from the International Beer Bar. There is also Bar 46, an oval-shaped bar with a table games area that spills out onto Fremont Street.Be pampered in the stylish Spa and Salon, a sprawling full-service facility that includes a fitness center, sauna, whirlpool and steam room. Try one of their specially themed packages, like Las Vegas Lights (to prep for an evening out) or Quick Fix (for the morning after!).The Golden Nugget also has plenty of casino action including a poker room, a four-table baccarat pit and a stylish, country club-like sports book. There are several fine shops, ranging from d'Oro for jewelry and watches to The Chocolate Box for sweet treats. Plus, you can check out the largest gold nugget in the world on public display and even buy a gold bar from the Gold to Go ATM.Whether you're visiting Las Vegas on business, for a romantic getaway or with your family and friends, the Golden Nugget has the perfect accommodations ready and waiting for you, as well as the key to downtown.-- By Renée LiButti

Reflecting the spirit of Las Vegas' past while embracing a passion and vitality for the future, the legendary Bally's resort in the heart of the Strip is an enduring favorite among visitors. Offering much more than just affordable accommodations, Bally's showcases cosmopolitan dining, a fine spa and a premier race and sports book.Of course, entertainment makes up a cornerstone of the resort. "Jubilee" has a history spanning more than 30 years. The grand-scale production is responsible for pioneering the showgirl-style revue. Although revamped and given a culturally contemporary twist, it retains its topless showgirls flocked in feathers and rhinestones. In fact, nearly 100 showgirls and showboys kick, dance and sing their way through over-the-top numbers like the sinking of the Titanic. And if you can't get enough of "Jubilee" onstage, go on the Jubilee Backstage Tour. The all-access afternoon walking tour, which is led by a showgirl, takes you behind the scenes to check out the giant-sized props, the extravagant costumes and much more.Other entertainment options at the resort include the interactive dinner shows "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" and "I Don't Have a Clue," the tribute show "Country Superstars," the astonishing mind reading in "Paranormal" and the L.A. Comedy Club.Bally's has its share of distinctive restaurants -- like BLT Steak, a highly regarded steakhouse from New York City. Among its signature staples are popovers, tuna tartare, Dover sole and of course, specialty steaks. On Saturdays and Sundays, BLT Steak serves the Sterling Brunch, where guests can indulge in fine fare including caviar, lobster tails, fresh-shucked oysters, Alaskan king crab legs, and never-ending glasses of Perrier Jouët Champagne, mimosas and bloody Marys. Check out the Tequila Bar and Grill for flavorful Mexican favorites, and Sea - The Thai Experience, which features unique fusion cuisine in a sleek setting. The Sidewalk Café is open for those who want to grab a quick bite for breakfast or lunch. Elsewhere on the property, you'll find fast eats at Java Coast, Nosh and the large food court, which includes Johnny Rockets, Nathan's Famous, Sbarro, Pan Asian Express and Subway. In the evenings, dance the night away at the Indigo Lounge. Live bands perform in this seductive spot, usually accompanied by a sexy tabletop dancer or two. And you can make friends with other visitors in Sully's, the wood-paneled bar near the lobby that has been welcoming guests to Bally's for many years. Victor Drai's Liaison, a gay nightclub, is elegantly designed to feature sexy dark decor. Liaison plays hip-hop, rap and top 40 music as well as hosts a drag night. If you're interested in the day's big games, the resort is home to the finest race and sports book around. Located at one end of Bally’s Avenue Shoppes (an eclectic collection of fashion, souvenir, jewelry, luggage and sundries stores), this stadium-style venue has projection-screen TVs wherever the eye can see. A VIP lounge, called the Sky Box, features additional flat-screen televisions and comfortable seating. It can accommodate up to 100 guests. Plus, there's a big bar with high-top tables spilling out out into the shopping area.Bally's has begun construction on the $50 million Grand Bazaar Shops. Scheduled to open by the end of December 2014, the 2-acre outdoor retail complex will be located at the front of the property. Inspired by great markets from around the world, the Grand Bazaar Shops will have 150 outlets including Swatch, Superdry, Havaianas and Campo Marzio. More than a third of the space will be dedicated to restaurants, bars and food outlets. The focal point of the Grand Bazaar Shops will be a spectacular tower called the Swarovski Crystal Starburst. Positioned over the brand's store, it will display a dazzling midnight show of lights and music.Bally's includes an Olympic-sized pool with palm trees, private cabanas and a whirlpool. There's also an impressive tennis complex, the largest one on the Strip. All eight championship-caliber courts are lit for night play. A full-service pro shop and lessons from a former ATP Tour player are also available.A place that offers rejuvenation and profound relaxation, The Spa at Bally's is an exceptional facility. It has 18 treatment rooms, multiple hot tubs, wet and dry saunas, and a eucalyptus steam room. There is a salon and fitness center as well. The comfortable accommodations at Bally's comprise 2,814 spacious guest rooms and suites. Among the standard amenities are hair dryers, irons and ironing boards, clock radios, internet access (for a fee) and cable TVs. Unlike many hotels on the Strip, Bally's has designated "PetStay" rooms where pets are allowed to stay for an additional fee.The resort is connected to Paris Las Vegas through Le Boulevard shops. It also is on the Las Vegas Monorail route. This means you'll have easy access to other great hotels on the Strip as well as to the Las Vegas Convention Center.Bally's opened in 1973 as the original MGM Grand. At that time, with more than 2,000 rooms, it was one of the largest hotels in the world. Today, it's no longer among the biggest properties -- but at Bally's you can surround yourself with the charm of yesteryear while enjoying a fabulous present-day Vegas vacation.
