Seeking an affordable base for your Vegas vacation? The South Point is a lively option for families, mature travelers and even clubbers who want to be close to all the action but not necessarily right in the middle of it. Frequented by locals, this mid-range hotel sits on the outlying southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard about five miles (that's less than 10 minutes) from the Welcome to Fabulous to Las Vegas sign, which marks the start of the Strip.Equine aficionados will be right at home here. The South Point is revered for its Equestrian Complex. It boasts a 4,600-seat arena, where riding and rodeo events are held year-round, along with 1,200 climate-controlled horse stalls. A giant statue of local gaming maverick Benny Binion on horseback is situated near the entry -- a simple tribute to the man who brought the National Finals Rodeo to Las Vegas.Non-equestrian entertainment is plentiful outside the complex. The hotel is home to a 16-screen movie theater and a 64-lane bowling center. The Showroom at South Point also features a variety of singers, bands and comedians, along with the Saturday night '80s dance party led by the Spazmatics.Bars of every shape and size are located throughout the hotel -- some are just steps away from each other. The Malibu Bar and Island Bar serve up tropical spirits, while the Lobby Bar is a focal gathering point in the heart of the casino. The Silverado Lounge offers a classic, Old West ambiance with a wood-paneled bar and overstuffed chairs. By the race and sports book, the Del Mar Lounge is a great spot for a cold beer during the game, and the Grandview Lounge at the southern end of the casino has a "Cheers"-like vibe and often hosts dance bands on weekend nights. The South Point possesses a multitude of dining options sure to satisfy any appetite. A standout among the restaurants is the intimate gourmet room Michael's. With a 20-year history, it has won accolades for the excellent filet mignon, sirloin steak and seafood preparations. Meat lovers looking for a more casual setting with equally succulent cuts can mosey into the Silverado Steakhouse or Primarily Prime Rib. Exotic cravings are filled with the freshly made pastas in Don Vito's and south-of-the-border favorites at Baja Miguel's. The Asian restaurant Zenshin serves the freshest sashimi, nigiri and sushi rolls -- including their Vegas-themed 777, Double Down Salmon and Jackpot Rolls. For quick ways to appease your hunger pangs in between hands and other casino play, try the Coronado Café or the Garden Buffet, which offers six live cooking stations. The Del Mar Deli is a fabulous spot for New York-style soups, sandwiches and decadent desserts. Plus, the beloved Midwestern chain Steak 'n Shake, known for its "steakburgers" and hand-dipped shakes, opened its first Las Vegas location inside the South Point. Don’t forget to play in the finest bingo room around, indulge in a cutting-edge treatment and salon service at the Costa Del Sur Spa & Salon, work out in the 24-hour fitness room or relax in the lagoon-style pool and hot tub. Kids and teens can spend hours at the Time-Out Arcade, while men will enjoy an expert shave and haircut at the Barber Shop. A stay at the South Point is also ideal for business travelers, who will have access to 71,000 square feet of meeting space and wireless internet access (included in the resort fee) in the rooms and lobby. There's a large business center that offer computers, copy and fax services, shipping and office supplies as well. The hotel has 2,163 spacious rooms and suites. Comfortably furnished, each one comes with a 42-inch LED television, a hair dryer, an iron and ironing board, a coffeemaker and a clock radio with MP3 connectivity. Free shuttle service to McCarran International Airport is available.Conveniently located close to the Strip and many of Vegas' most exciting attractions, you'll experience unmatched hospitality at the South Point while benefiting from a hotel that’s a breed above the rest.--By Renée LiButti

Originally built to resemble a riverboat -- minus the river! -- Harrah's Las Vegas is anchored in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. This lively resort opened as the Holiday Inn Casino in 1973. Having nurtured that fun-lovin' spirit over the years, Harrah's boasts a rambunctious, reckless energy that is sure to win over the young and young-at-heart.The resort is known as the home of Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill. Named for one of the country superstar's hit singles, this place is full of rollicking good times with lots to drink, live music, dancing and big portions of home-style food – like the fried bologna sandwich.Speaking of food, you'll find fresh seafood at the Oyster Bar at Harrah's. It specializes in a variety of appetizers, oysters, fish tacos and grilled lobster tail. And KGB: Kerry's Gourmet Burgers features the culinary genius of Kerry Simon in a funky atmosphere suggestive of Russia. Plus, Ruth's Chris Steak House has unparalleled views of the Strip and signature cuts of USDA Prime steak, broiled in an 1,800-degree oven.Want a quick bite? Flavors, The Buffet serves breakfast, lunch and dinner via a scrumptious array of cooking stations -- and it has a never-ending supply of crab legs! And you can always grab a cool and delicious ice cream concoction at Icepan.Entertainment is always on the menu at Harrah's as well. Since 2000, magician Mac King has been mystifying and cracking up audiences of all ages in the afternoons. If you'd prefer to be keeled over in laughter in the evenings, get tickets to the Improv Comedy Club or "Defending the Caveman," a hilarious one-man play that originated on Broadway. And "Million Dollar Quartet," the hit Broadway musical, tells about how four rock 'n' roll pioneers (Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley) came together one magical night. In addition, music and drinks can be found at several of the resort's bars. Creative cocktails are poured by the world's top flair bartenders at the outdoor Carnaval Court. Indoors you'll discover the Piano Bar, which showcases TJ's Karaoke Party and the Twins Dueling Pianos.Gaming seems to stretch into every nook and cranny of the property. As part of its nearly 87,000-square-foot casino, you'll come across such spots as the "Poker Place," where every type of video poker machine imaginable is housed, and Toby Keith's I Love This Party Pit, which brings the whiskey-themed debauchery of his bar and grill downstairs.Harrah's has a lovely Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool, replete with cabanas and comfortable lounge chairs. Other amenities include a fitness center, The Spa at Harrah's (known for its aromatherapy treatments and Swedish massages), a beauty salon and plenty of shopping -- ranging from logo merchandise to jewelry, purses and leisure apparel. Plus, the resort is home to a Las Vegas Monorail station and provides free shuttles to the Rio.Harrah's 2,526 rooms and suites are located in two adjacent 22- and 35-story towers. They feature views of the Strip, mountains, pool or city. Rooms include blackout drapes, pay-per-view movies, an iron and ironing board, a minibar and a hair dryer. There are special floors for non-smoking guests.Offering exciting gaming, exceptional dining, and a party-like atmosphere -- as well as easy access to the action-packed Strip -- Harrah's is the perfect place to get away from everyday life.

if I stay at harrah's in Las Vegas is there a charge for parking my car

No! No hotels charge for parking. You can park at any "self-service parking" lot you can find. It doesn't matter where you stay either, you can park at ANY hotel for free! :o)
