The architecturally-dynamic M Resort is a gem on the Las Vegas Strip about 10 miles south of Mandalay Bay with unparalleled amenities, service and quality. Sitting on 90 acres of land at an elevation 400 feet higher than any other Strip hotel-casino, M Resort was created for Las Vegas residents by a native of the city, Anthony A. Marnell III. But with unique offerings like a wine cellar and unparalleled views of the valley, this stunning glass-framed hotel is a destination for both locals and Vegas visitors.Marnell designed and hand picked just about all the intricate touches at M Resort, right down the china used in many of the restaurants. His theory is that if you're putting your name on something, you don't want to leave anything to chance. This personal attention is evident in all areas of M Resort, from the hundreds of fresh white Calla lilies in the lobby to M's design, which allows just about every venue to overlook the stunning Villaggio Del Sole Pool and Entertainment Piazza. Even M Resort's meeting and banquet space has a roomy outdoor terrace above the pool, while the state-of-the-art fitness center offers prime views through floor-to-ceiling windows.Standard rooms are upscale but casual with dark tones and custom furniture, modern sound systems, electronic "do not disturb" signs and views of either the valley or mountains. Upon entering the room, guests can place their key card in a designated holder on the wall, which not only keeps it safe, but also turns on the room lights. Remove your key when leaving, and lights will turn off 30 seconds later, helping to conserve energy if you forget to turn out the lights. There are a few stellar restaurant options for guests. Anthony's Steakhouse serves steak and ocean cuisine. Try a decadent Imperial Burger in Anthony's Gourmet Burgers & Brews. Marinelli's Pasta Bar offers a variety of small-plate Italian dishes. And buffet-in-the-round Studio B serves house beer and wine as part of its overall price. Attached is the Studio B show kitchen for private cooking demonstrations, which are then showcased on 117 screens within the buffet.Chef Seonkyoung Longest, the winner of Food Network's "Restaurant Express," has opened an eatery called Jayde Fuzion that showcases her contemporary Asian sharing dishes. Menu items combine Japanese, Chinese and Korean flavors. There is also an interactive sushi bar.Listings of past Super Bowl point spreads and MVPs decorate the walls of Vig Deli, which offers classic junk food like wings and pizza, perfect for those watching a game in the attached race and sports book. At 92,000 square feet, the casino also includes close to 1,847 video and slot machines, 64 table games and a gorgeous high limit lounge with view. Those looking for something stiffer than soda have plenty of options including the 32° Draft Bar, the M Bar and the Ravello Lounge on the casino level and a wine cellar/tasting room with self-serve wine dispensers, Hostile Grape Wine Cellar, below.   The therapeutic Spa Mio is an oasis of relaxation with 16 treatment rooms, a sauna and a steam room. Even the attached salon offers shampoo stations with electronically operated massage chairs. One of the many ways M Resort caters to locals is by offering several different property entrances with nearby parking. Those stopping by to use the spa can park and enter close to the spa. Those interested in placing a bet can park and enter by the race and sports book. There is also a gas station on the property. -- Staff Report

Our favorite hotel in Vegas. Clean, friendly, quiet, serene and magnificent
PostedApril 6, 2014
It might be a few miles off the main strip, but it is worth it. This is the sanctuary of hotels. The staff are friendly, kind, quick to respond to your needs and very much want to serve it's guest. It is my favorite hotel in Vegas due to simplicity of getting anywhere in the edifice. Best buffet in all of Vegas. It's immaculately clean, years ahead of its time, quiet, well built, beautiful and serene. The staff are the beyond kind and sweet. The M is Magnificent.

For visitors wanting to be in the center of the magic and excitement on the Las Vegas Strip, the Flamingo is a wonderful option. It's located near the always busy Flamingo Road/Las Vegas Boulevard intersection. The north entrance of the resort is also connected to The Linq, a retail, dining and entertainment district that boasts a giant observation wheel called the High Roller. Plus, when compared to many of the elite hotels in the area, the rooms here offer comfort and luxury at more affordable prices.Situated in the heart of paradise, the laid-back Flamingo is also themed for paradise. In fact, it's always five o'clock in the Margaritaville Casino. Inspired by singer Jimmy Buffett's island-escapism lyrics, the resort constructed a 15,000-square-foot casino at the front of the property that opens right onto Las Vegas Boulevard. The décor features palm trees and tropical colors. Bikini-clad babes serve cocktails, while flair bartenders keep tabs on the shack-style 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar.  Margaritaville Casino is complemented by the multilevel, Caribbean-themed Margaritaville restaurant, which boasts two patios overlooking the Strip and a huge retail store. Festival-like sights and sounds are all around. Parrot Heads can dine in a wooden boat or on its bow. Not only is the place buzzing with Buffett's hits, but there are stilt walkers who craft balloon hats and waitresses who slide down from the top of the three-story Volcano Bar and land in a 300-gallon blender of margarita mix.The party vibe can also be found in the Flamingo Showroom. The family musical duo Donny and Marie Osmond host a nightly extravaganza presenting their greatest hits. (Note: Fans can view costumes from their TV stints on "Dancing with the Stars" and Donny's mirrored disco ball trophy in exhibit cases near the lobby.) Olivia Newton-John is also appearing in "Summer Nights," a residency that runs on select dates until Jan. 3, 2015. You can catch the celebrity impersonators of "Legends in Concert" in the afternoons. In the late evening hours at the X Showroom, men will get all hot and bothered by the beautiful dancers in "X Burlesque" -- while women can learn the secrets to the cast's sexy moves at XBU - X Burlesque University.Another major attraction at the Flamingo is the Wildlife Habitat. Its impeccably manicured grounds are home to pink Chilean flamingos, wood ducks, koi, turtles and other fascinating creatures -- all of which coexist peacefully together. If you are captivated by the playful critters, you may want to have a meal -- breakfast, lunch, dinner or weekend brunch -- in the Paradise Garden Buffet, which overlooks the habitat.Amid the 15 acres of lush greenery lie the resort's spectacular pools. The main pools are interconnected and feature lagoon areas, a seasonal waterslide, a meandering river and cascading waterfalls. For a trendy dayclub experience, visitors will want to check out the Go Pool (open during summer only), where a DJ pumps up the volume for guests reveling in chaise lounges, daybeds and VIP cabanas. In the vicinity, near the enchanting garden and gazebo wedding chapels, a plaque marks the site of the original hotel (erected in 1946 and knocked down in 1993). It also pays tribute to the Flamingo's infamous founder, Bugsy Siegel. This resort is one of the few left in Las Vegas with links to the past. Be sure to behold its pulsating pink and orange neon façade, another rarity in this day and age. When you get hungry, you'll find plenty of places for a relaxing, casual meal -- from the Tropical Breeze Café to the food court. Hamada of Japan serves up an authentic Japanese dining experience, complete with teppan demonstration cooking and a sushi bar. Featuring a black interior with pink accents, the Center Cut Steakhouse perfectly cooks organic steaks, Kobe burgers and rack of lamb. And Carlos'n Charlie's restaurant and bar is known for great food and overflowing spirits -- which often lead to impromptu dancing on the tables and chairs. The restaurant has an expansive indoor dining room and an outdoor patio. In contrast to the resort's easy-going vibe, the action in the casino is always fast-paced. You'll discover a party pit, with female dealers manning pink felt-covered blackjack tables, by the open-air entrance near The Cromwell. A sexy pole dancer entertains from a small cage suspended above the gaming floor. A friendly poker room is tucked next to the lobby, and the race & sports book makes sure all the games are right in your face.Named for the legendary mobster, players can grab a drink in the casino at Bugsy's Bar.There is a wide range of rooms available at the Flamingo. The Go rooms and the recently renovated FAB rooms both have stylish and funky interior design elements as well as flat-screen TVs and other modern amenities. Pets (dogs weighing less than 50 pounds) are welcome in the specially designated PetStay section of the hotel, which contains a dog relief area.Pamper yourself at The Spa. Or if you'd prefer to get out and about, transportation is easy. There's a Las Vegas Monorail station on the premises, so you'll have access to several other resorts along the Strip.-- By Renée LiButti

We love the Flamingo. Make sure you are a Rewards member to make check in and out faster. Parking during 4th of July was bad. Not enough spaces. Valet was sold out. This was the only problem we had. Our stay was very pleasant even for 117 degree temps. Can't beat the price. Employees are all very nice and kind.

Does the shuttle to the strip have a cost ?

No cost. It goes from the M to Fashion Place mall. Tipping is a good idea.
