It seems par for the course that a restaurant atop the tallest building west of the Mississippi would offer fabulous views. But Top of the World at the Stratosphere hotel goes over the top, rotating 360 degrees throughout your meal to offer sprawling views of the entire Las Vegas valley. The meal begins with an elevator ride more than 800 feet above the Las Vegas Strip. From there, guests are led to an elegant dining room with angled floor-to-ceiling windows. As you sit at your table enjoying first-class service and delicious lunch or dinner dishes from Executive Chef Rick Giffen and Chef Claude Gaty, the restaurant rotates at a relaxing and rhythmic pace. The 80-minute rotation is quick enough for you to take in the entire Strip, downtown and beyond (as well as the Top of the World kitchen) during the course of your meal, but slow enough so you can savor every moment.Lunchtime offers a quaint atmosphere for business meetings, conventions and family reunions while dinner transforms the dining room into one of the city's most romantic getaways. Many of the marriage capital of the world's proposals happen right here. For a real treat, reserve your spot for just before sunset to enjoy the gorgeous splash of color across the mountains and sky as the world famous Las Vegas Strip becomes fully illuminated. Top of the World's menu is also impressive with a variety of gourmet steak, meat, fowl and seafood dishes as well as vegan and gluten-free selections, like grilled vegetable Napoleon & portobello with a quinoa tabbouleh drizzled in a balsamic essence. Just about any meal on the menu can easily be made gluten-free with a simple tweak from the chef.To enhance your overall experience, try the four-course tasting menu with suggested wine pairings. Each dish is masterfully served in just the right amount of time leaving you feeling satisfied but not overstuffed. Your meal begins with choice of soup or fresh Caesar salad, accompanied by a Pinot Gris. As a seafood lover, you will enjoy every bite of the silky and creamy lobster bisque. For your second course you'll choose from a jumbo lump crab cake with green papaya kimchi or seared branzino. Topped with citrus brown butter emulsion and a single asparagus spear, the branzino's natural flavor is enhanced by an earthy mushroom fricassee with huitlacoche and corn. Either selection pairs perfectly with a slightly sweet and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.Third course is a grilled center cut filet with red wine sauce and royal trumpet. This scrumptious filet is cooked to perfection and served with a North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. For the final course, a mini dessert duo and fruity red port satisfies even the sweetest tooth. Top of the World isn't just a restaurant. It's a fine dining experience -- one you won't soon forget. Your server will arrive at just the right moment to snap your photo and capture a lasting memory with the Strip as the backdrop. Professional photography is also available for an added cost.

I have to admit when our cab was pulling up to the stratosphere i was a little concerned. We were driving by boarded up apartments and what looked like not such a nice area but once we got to the restaurant it was breathtaking. We went at night and it was such an amazing view of the entire city. We had the smores tart for dessert and it was delicious! Would most definitely go back!

We usually take a cab from the airport but decided on a limo this time. Best decision ever! The limo driver was waiting for us at the baggage carousel with a sign with our name on it when we arrived. He was dressed to the nines and immediately introduced himself. He was extremely friendly and personable! He got all our bags. Once we were in the limo he opened a bottle of champagne for us and asked us what kind of music we liked and if the air temperature was ok. We will never go back to using cabs again!!

When Carrot Top comes out on stage there's no telling what crazy contraption he's going to pull out next, but classifying him as just a prop comic is an understatement. His wacky inventions are merely an extension of his outrageous and hilariously funny personality. While some jokes are based on items that he pulls from his prop trunks, others rely on his talent as a stand-up comedian and comical commentary on everything from tourists to NASCAR, celebrities and current events. He begins with talking about how when people come to Vegas they suddenly have urge to gamble on everything in sight."One time I lost $20 on a Coke machine," jokes Carrot Top.Then he introduces a few of his "inventions." "Here's an Amish hair dryer," says Carrot Top as he pulls out a long bendable tube that he has to blow out of and aim at his hair. Next he demonstrates a redneck baby carrier, which is actually a box of beer that has holes cut out of it to fit a baby's head and limbs. The red-haired comedian barely stops to take a breath as he transitions between frantically searching for a new prop and telling jokes. Before you know it the topic has changed from walking to the Excalibur to his last visit to the porn convention in Las Vegas."It takes an extra hour to walk around because your feet get stuck to the floor," jokes Carrot Top while people in the audience can't help but keel over laughing.Next he transitions to talking about athletes and pulls out a football helmet with a phallic attachment to demonstrate what one of his least favorite players should wear. His show is just as wild and crazy as his big hair and brightly colored tie-dyed T-shirt that he wears during his performance. What seems like a loud fashion statement for most people is mild in comparison to the comedian's uninhibited personality.Mid-way through the show, a bucket is lowered from the ceiling with what the comedian claims to be his "medicine." He pulls it out and reveals that his medicine is actually Crown Royal. Carrot Top pours a shot for himself and then a few more that he hands to people in the front rows while AC/DC's "Have a Drink on Me" plays in the background. You just never know what this crazy comedian is going to say or do next. At times it looks like not even he knows what's going to come out of his mouth, but he admits later on in the show that "A lot of this isn't for you. I'm just entertaining myself."However, the continuing laughter and buzz from audience members as they exit the theater and re-tell some of his jokes proves that he is doing much more than just that.-- By Caroline Fontein

You have probably seen him on television performing incredible illusions such as making the Statue of Liberty disappear, navigating the rapids of Niagara Falls and flying over the Grand Canyon. Master magician David Copperfield seems to have done it all. His show in Las Vegas is a unique opportunity for audiences to see these larger-than- life illusions performed live and up close in the Hollywood Theater at MGM Grand.Of course he can't exactly re-create all of them, but he demonstrates similar and equally amazing illusions using objects that are more suitable for a stage setting.Copperfield alludes to an illusion he did where he walked through the Great Wall of China and then explains that he is going to re-create that same illusion using a large metal sheet as the indestructible medium through which he will effortlessly pass. The metal sheet is placed on a raised platform, and Copperfield has two audience members come on stage to test it out by walking on it and hitting it with a rubber hammer.Next, he lies under the piece of metal, and four assistants hold a sheet over Copperfield and the platform. The assistants spin the platform around proving to the audience that there is no way out except by going through the metal. First you see just a finger poking through and then, within seconds, he miraculously appears on top of the metal sheet. This is just one of the mind-boggling magic tricks that he performs in the show. As the epitome of master magicians, Copperfield takes his illusions to another level of excitement and awe. Instead of doing the typical box trick where a woman is sliced in half, he locks himself in a box that begins to shrink in size. He smiles at the audience while moving his hands and feet as the box gets so small the entire length of his body has been reduced to mere inches. The box gradually gets bigger and Copperfield hops onto the stage saying, "that's how they made mini me," before moving on to his next illusion. He integrates his casual and comical personality into every act, resulting in laughter from the crowd.Audience interaction is a big part of the show as he incorporates a person picked at random for almost every illusion. You might even see him doing magic right in front of your seat when he performs illusions while standing in the audience. For one illusion he asks a woman to join him in the aisle on the side of the theater. He asks the woman to examine a piece of tissue paper before he rolls it into a ball and makes it levitate and dance along his arm with the tap of a finger.Unlike other magic shows in Las Vegas, Copperfield does not implement flashy showgirls, dancing or over the top production elements to supplement his illusions. His magic has enough of a wow factor on its own.His expertise as a magician dates back to when he was just 12 years old and started performing professionally. That same year he also became the youngest person ever to be admitted to the Society of American Magicians. From there, Copperfield went on to teach a course on magic at New York University when he was 16.During his first year in college, Copperfield starred in the Chicago musical, "The Magic Man," and as a result of the show's success he was selected to host ABC's "The Magic of ABC." From there he was offered his own series of specials with CBS titled "The Magic of David Copperfield." The series has been aired in over 40 countries. His illustrious career has made him a Guinness Book of World Record holder for having 21 Emmys, and he has a star on the Hollywood "Walk of Fame." Apart from his revue in Vegas, he continues to tour, performing sold out shows around the world. His enduring presence as a magician and integration into pop culture and even postage stamps proves that Copperfield's magic has no boundaries. He even demonstrates his ability to predict the future in an act where he gets people from the audience to provide him with different numbers that he later pulls from a box that has been hanging above the stage for the entire show.If just having the numbers on paper is not impressive enough, Copperfield also reveals a cassette tape with a recording of himself reciting the numbers that he plays for the audience. It is an astonishing feat that amazes everyone with the impossibility of it all.-- By Caroline Fontein

Not only did I love the show itself but I never knew David Copperfield was so funny! I also loved the personal touch he added by speaking of his childhood. Highly recommend!
