If you're looking for a place to stay as well as party head to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino where the music never stops (and we aren't talking about boring elevator music) and a good time is practically unavoidable.Located a few blocks east of the Strip, which isn't a far walk but we think cabs are fun too (especially if you've had a few too many drinks), this iconic hotel oozes good times -- from its unparalleled concert venue that has hosted some pretty impressive musical greats and its paradise-esque pool complex to its sleek nightclub, swanky restaurants and super sexy retail offerings it's obvious that this hotel was only partially built for sleeping.Built in 1995, the "old" (we much prefer the term original) Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is as happening as ever and, as a result of an expansion project that concluded in 2010, the property has added a couple of new room towers -- the luxurious Paradise Tower and the all-suite HRH Tower -- as well as several pools and leisure amenities… so it's basically new!Of course, live music reigns supreme at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and The Joint has an incomparable reputation. As far as we know, not many other stages have been graced by KISS, Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, Incubus, Linkin Park and The Killers, among many others. Following the redesign, this state-of-the-art 4,000-seat facility boasts pristine sound, projection and lighting systems that are so advanced they defy easy description. Simply put, there's no better place in town to see and hear your favorite performers…. unless you get privately serenaded…. And if you do, we want to talk to you.In addition to The Joint, the resort is also home to the smaller and more intimate entertainment venue, Vinyl, which features a variety of entertainment genres including local bands, comedy acts and late-night burlesque. If your good time is the same as our good time, which typically includes some cold beverages (or hot, if that's what you're into) then you will probably find yourself among the hotel's bars including the Luxe Bar in the HRH Tower and for the sports fanatics out there, The Ainsworth. If this is you, you can enjoy watching the day's action on countless big-screen TVs spread throughout The Ainsworth -- an elegant nightlife-oriented venue from New York City that serves stellar cocktails and a small menu of upscale American bar foods.During the summer months, you can bring the party outside and soak up the sun and dance without your pants… in your swimsuit obviously... at Rehab, the home of the original Las Vegas pool party. Rehab's weekly Saturday and Sunday events have become legendary. Imagine a throng of bodies in the skimpiest of swimwear sunbathing, drinking and dancing to music spun by popular DJs in a stunning complex that consists of expansive freeform pools, a waterfall, sandy beach areas and kitted-out cabanas. Blackjack and other games are available at swim-up tables and the bartenders are some of the best on The Strip. But if you just want to relax, a more low-key experience in an equally lush landscape can be found at the Nirvana Pool, the Breathe Pool or the pool sanctuary at the Reliquary Spa, which also features a menu of decadent spa treatments from around the world. The dining is as self-indulgent as all other aspects of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Nobu is home to modern Japanese cuisine and Fú offers a unique fusion of Asian fare, while 35 Steaks + Martini combines a classic steakhouse ambiance with sumptuous signature cocktails. For casual eats, there's the ever-popular Pink Taco and everyone's favorite -- locals and visitors alike -- Mr. Lucky's Café, which is famous for its not-so-secret $7.77 special, a six-ounce steak, three shrimp and mashed potatoes, that is not listed on the menu but is common knowledge at this laid-back 24-hour coffee shop. Culinary Dropout, which was opened by Restaurateur Sam Fox, is a swanky drinking and pub grub-style dining spot, conveniently adjacent to the pool where you can indulge in everything from fried chicken and biscuits to the signature After School Special cocktail here. If there was ever a perfect concert set list… we think this is the eatery equivalent. In addition, the retail therapy at the resort is distinctive. The shopping at The Hard Rock provides just the right amount of that rock star flash. Visit Love Jones for lingerie and Rocks The Jeweler for some urban bling as well as John Varvatos for men's wear and the Hard Rock Store for logo gear. However, if you're looking for something a bit more permanent, The Hart & Huntington Tattoo Co. opened up shop at The Hard Rock for those with tatting tendencies. And now, our favorite part of the entire hotel is well… the entire hotel! Decorated with their extraordinary collection of rock 'n' roll memorabilia in frames and shadowboxes that line the walls and hallways throughout the premises, rock 'n' roll is nothing short of revived around every corner of The Hard Rock. It's like going to the coolest music museum in the world and not having to pay a dime for the views. With guitars from icons such as Johnny Cash and Coldplay members (among many others), a drum kit used by Aerosmith and the clothes worn by Fergie, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera in their music videos, you will truly feel the rockin' energy within the property. So don't worry, you don't need to find the hair pick and headbands to relive those rock 'n' roll hair days of yours, all you need to do is step into the Hard Rock and let the magic of the surroundings take over.

We sometimes throw around the term “affordable.” But that doesn’t mean cheap. South Point is less expensive mainly because of its location. South of major hotels like Mandalay Bay, South Point is still on Las Vegas Boulevard, making it just a short car ride away from your favorite attractions. But South Point really makes use of its extra space with its chief attraction, the revered Equestrian Complex.Hosting riding and rodeo events year-round in a 4,600 seat arena with 1,200 climate-controlled horse stalls, the complex is sure to make equine aficionados feel right at home. And if you’re a seriously hardcore rodeo fan, you just might recognize the giant statue of local gaming maverick Benny Binion on horseback situated near the entry--a simple tribute to the man who brought the National Finals Rodeo to Las Vegas.Though the Equestrian Complex is the likely the biggest draw, South Point has plenty of entertainment for those who just think horses are pretty but don’t really want to get close enough to smell them. The hotel is home to a 16-screen movie theater, a fine bingo room and a 64-lane bowling center. And the Showroom at South Point features a variety of singers, bands and comedians. And, like practically every inch of South Point, those spots can all involve some drinks. It could be said that the casino floor is a really just a mall of bars. In fact, we’re actually going to say it. If you tried to get a shot and a beer at everyone one of them you’d probably get kicked out for drunkenly doing something stupid around the fourth one. So don’t try that. Pick a couple and have a fun night. The Malibu Bar and Island Bar serve up tropical spirits, while the Lobby Bar is a focal gathering point in the heart of the casino. The Silverado Lounge offers a classic, Old West ambiance with a wood-paneled bar and overstuffed chairs. By the race and sports book, the Del Mar Lounge is a great spot for a cold beer during the game, and the Grandview Lounge at the southern end of the casino has a "Cheers"-like vibe and often hosts dance bands on weekend nights. And be sure to get some food in you before you drink.Michael's, throughout its 20-year history, has won accolades for the excellent filet mignon, sirloin steak and seafood preparations. Meat lovers looking for a more casual setting with equally succulent cuts can try the Silverado Steakhouse or Primarily Prime Rib. Exotic cravings are filled with the freshly made pastas in Don Vito's and south-of-the-border favorites at Baja Miguel's. The Asian restaurant Zenshin serves the freshest sashimi, nigiri and sushi rolls -- including their Vegas-themed 777, Double Down Salmon and Jackpot Rolls. For quick ways to appease your hunger pangs in between hands of poker and other casino play, try the Coronado Café or the Garden Buffet, which offers six live cooking stations. The Del Mar Deli is a fabulous spot for New York-style soups, sandwiches and decadent desserts. Plus, the beloved Midwestern chain Steak 'n Shake, known for its "steakburgers" and hand-dipped shakes, opened its first Las Vegas location inside the South Point. Between the abundant food and drinks and all that space to let your horse run around and fetch sticks or whatever it is horses do that make them so entertaining, South Point is an equestrian’s dream. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a fun place to get dinner, hang out at a bar and do a little gambling away from the confines of the Strip. Plus it’s affordable. And we all know what that means -- more money for drinks.
