THEhotel is being transformed into Delano Las Vegas. All of the rooms as well as the restaurants and lounge will be redesigned. Construction has begun and will be completed by September 2014. The resort will remain open throughout construction.THEhotel at Mandalay Bay is a graceful tower of glittering gold. It soars 43 stories above the southern end of the Strip. Connected to one of the busiest and most multifaceted properties in Las Vegas, it provides the best of all worlds for upscale leisure and business travelers -- i.e., peace and comfort in an exclusive setting with easy access to all the action the city is celebrated for.THEhotel offers 1,117 one-bedroom suites, each measuring at least 725 square feet. Elegantly appointed, they boast cool tiling with contemporary furnishings and artwork. Among the amenities are 42-inch plasma TVs, in-room safes, wet bars and work desks. The marble bathrooms have 15-inch LCD TVs, twin vanities, soaking tubs and separate glass-enclosed showers. All of this is enhanced by floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase spectacular Strip, city and mountain views. THEhotel even has a selection of dog-friendly suites.By this fall these rooms will look entirely different. With renovations underway to transform THEhotel into Delano Las Vegas, all of the accommodations will be updated. Signature white décor will enhance light and create the feeling of a serene oasis. Guests will also enjoy many new amenities from 46-inch flat-screen Samsung TVs and media hubs to Keurig coffeemakers and Malin+Goetz bath products.A wonderful culinary experience awaits guests at Mix restaurant and lounge, set high atop the hotel tower. Internationally acclaimed chef Alain Ducasse is the man behind its nouveau French menu, which includes classic Franco-American dishes with global accents, like the seared duck foie gras, lobster Caesar salad and pepper-crusted bison tenderloin. In the winter of 2014/2015 after Delano Las Vegas opens, Mix restaurant will become Rivea (with Ducasse still at the helm), and serve a blend of French and Italian cuisines. Details about Mix Lounge's makeover are not yet available. Delano Las Vegas will transform the space that once housed a cafe to create 3940 Coffee + Tea, a 24-hour coffee bar that will also offer afternoon tea and wine and tapas in the evenings, and a farmhouse-meets-urban kitchen restaurant concept that features sustainable desert cuisine. The former lounge will also be remodeled and given a new name, Franklin. Franklin will have a sophisticated atmosphere with club-like elements, such as DJ-spun music. When you're ready to pamper yourself from head to toe, the Bathhouse Spa has 12 treatment rooms and houses exotic baths, pools of varying temperatures and a lovely waterfall. Among the services are an array of massages, facials, body wraps and signature experiences. The only facility not being transformed at THEhotel when it becomes Delano Las Vegas is the Bathhouse Spa. However, even this will get a new menu of treatments and signature services that will be available beginning in August 2014. This includes a collection of "Global Journeys," which will showcase exquisite rituals from far-off places like India and countries in Asia.Guests of THEhotel as well as Delano Las Vegas will always have complete access to Mandalay Bay, the massive 3,309-room resort that directly adjoins it, via a hallway that exits into the Mandalay Bay Theatre's lobby and box office. Its convenience for businesspeople is unrivaled -- as the Mandalay Bay Convention Center boasts 1.7 million square feet of meeting space. THEhotel is also within easy walking distance of a premium retail complex (The Shoppes at Mandalay Place), a diverse collection of trendy restaurants and bars (from Fleur by Hubert Keller and RM Seafood by Rick Moonen to Eyecandy and the House of Blues) and a number of major tourist attractions (Shark Reef). Plus, afternoons can be spent soaking up the sun at  Mandalay Bay Beach, an 11-acre paradise-like pool complex.Establishing high standards for design and guest indulgence, THEhotel -- and soon Delano Las Vegas -- are resorts that uniquely encompasses modern luxury in Las Vegas.-- By Renée LiButti

THE HOTEL not my favorite
PostedMay 18, 2013
I've been to Vegas six times in the last eight years. In order I've stayed at Circus Circus, New York, a couple Hilton times shares with friends, Bellogio, and The Hotel. I would stay at all the other before The Hotel again. Reasons: had to wait three hours for a room which has not happened at the other hotels, didn't know I had to pay a resort fee of 25.00 a day until I recieved my e-mail bill (only went to the pool one of the five days), to far off the strip. I would rather be closer to the center or maybe even downtown next time.

How far of a walk the casino?

I will be staying here soon and just want to know if the walk to the main Mandalay Bay building is long or not?
Yes and no. Now that I've stayed there i would say the walk is too far. Tie that together woth Mandalay Bay being at the far end of the strip I just found that I didn't like the location.
