Experience the fun and excitement of Brazil at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Located just minutes west of the famed Las Vegas Strip, on Flamingo Road, it's a perfect location if you want to be close to all the action and major attractions in Las Vegas. Plus, the Rio itself comes packed with shops, theaters, bars and restaurants. The hotel has a vibrant atmosphere with brightly colored carpeting, signage and décor that will make it seem as if you've arrived in the middle Carnival season. The Rio is known for hosting the main event in the prestigious World Series of Poker annually. Thus, gaming takes precedence on the sprawling casino floor, which has 1,200 slot machines and 80 different table games. The two top crowd-pleasers at the resort, however, are the buffets. The Carnival World Buffet has been winning awards and acclaim since the Rio opened in 1990. This massive spread features more than 300 dishes prepared fresh daily. And seafood lovers are sure to enjoy the catch at the Village Seafood Buffet. Imagine loading your plate with unlimited lobster, crab legs, shrimp, sushi and more! Both of these buffets are usually packed with patrons, but don't lose heart if you see a line. Service is quick as well as friendly, so you'll be surprised at how short the wait time really is.Fine meals can be had at the Rio as well. Tough, tattooed Philadelphia chef Steve Martorano is at the helm of Martorano's, where rich, Italian-American favorites are served in excess. Or indulge in a succulent steak and one of the most striking views of Las Vegas at VooDoo Steak and Rooftop Nightclub, situated on the 50th and 51st floors of the resort's Masquerade Tower. Other delights include the dry-aged Angus beef at the All-American Bar & Grille, the authentic Vietnamese cuisine at Pho Da Nang, the fresh oysters at Buzio's Seafood Restaurant and the one-of-a-kind dim sum menu at KJ Dim Sum & Seafood Chinese Restaurant. Hash House A Go Go has creatively prepared, oversized portions -- which include everything from breakfast and brunch to dinner items. You can grab a quick meal at the BK Whopper Bar or the Sports Deli, which situated near the six giant screens in the busy race and sports book.In addition, the entertainment alternatives are excellent. Penn & Teller, the quirky and frequently gruesome magic duo, have their own theater at the Rio, as do the hunky Chippendales dancers. The Crown Theater hosts an array of acts, including "MJ Live," a tribute to Michael Jackson starring impersonator Michael Firestone, and The Rat Pack Is Back, which brings the sounds of the legendary performers back to life. The seductive topless revue "X Rocks" showcases sexy choreography set to heart-pounding rock songs. For a spirited evening, swing by the sexy Flirt Lounge in the lobby of the Chippendales Theatre or the high-tech I-Bar, where you can order drinks from a touch-screen computer built into your tabletop.A thrilling zip ride, the VooDoo Zip Line adds excitement to any visit. Guests can to soar for more than 800 feet from the VooDoo Rooftop Nightclub in the hotel's Masquerade Tower to the Ipanema Tower. The 70-second journey boasts stunning 360-degree views of the Las Vegas Strip.Accommodations at the Rio range from the spacious 600-square-foot standard suites to the opulent, one-bedroom Masquerade suites, boasting 1,600 square feet and a 180-degree view of the city. All of the suites include stylish furnishings, a large flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, a hair dryer, an iron and ironing board, and a complimentary in-room safe. For sun and relaxation, spend an afternoon at the pool complex with golden sand areas and cascading waterfalls. Plenty of shops -- including The Wine Cellar & Tasting Room, Fashion 101 and a Harley-Davidson store -- are located throughout the premises. Pampering treatments are offered at the Rio Spa & Salon to refresh your mind and body. And the resort provides shuttle service to and from Harrah's.An eye-popping place to stay, guests at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino will enjoy superior service, comfort and value just a short distance from the Strip.-- By Renée LiButti

Rio is Dated, No Show in the sky...Save your money
PostedMay 12, 2013
We chose this location because of the price. Also we saw tons of awesome videos and pictures of the show in the sky. When we arrived we saw a sign saying that the show wasn't going on. I was at the blackjack tables the following morning and asked about it. The dealer said that it hadn't gone on since she started working there. THAT WAS OVER 2 1/2 YEARS AGO. Why is this not on the website? You pick a hotel in vegas expecting to get the "theme" or at least the only attraction it has to offer and you get there and its shut down. Service wasn't that great. I called and complained and got $40 in room service. I will say that is you like single deck face down BJ games, this is the place to play.

If you're looking for a place to stay in Las Vegas that will put you close to all the party action, head to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The resort boasts a 24-hour rockin' atmosphere that appeals to the young, hip and trendy.Located a few blocks east of the Strip, which isn't far but can be a challenging walk (especially if you've had a few too many drinks), the hotel oozes rollicking good times -- from its peerless concert venue and pool complex to its sleek nightclub, swanky restaurants and super sexy retail offerings.Built in 1995, the "old" Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is as happening as ever. And, as a result of an expansion project that concluded in 2010, the property has added a couple of new room towers -- the luxurious Paradise Tower and the all-suite HRH Tower -- as well as several pools and leisure amenities.Of course, live music reigns supreme at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and The Joint has an incomparable reputation. What other stage has been graced by Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, Incubus, Linkin Park and The Killers, just to name a few? Following a redesign, this state-of-the-art facility now has seating for 4,000 people along with sound, projection and lighting systems that are so advanced they defy easy description. Simply put, there's no better place in town to see and hear your favorite performers. The resort recently debuted a more intimate live entertainment venue -- Vinyl. It features a diversity of genres along with local bands, comedy and late-night burlesque. The main nightclub at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is Body English. It's a sensual place -- filled with leather furnishings and giant chandeliers -- that showcases indie, electronic, rock and pop music. The resort also has Vanity (it's only open for special events and parties), with a decadent interior that includes hand-cut crystals, antique mirrors, chrome accents and rich tapestries. Those who want to forego the nightclub scene will still find a party vibe in every other nook and cranny of the property. Two circular bars crammed with people are the beloved Center Bar in the original Casino Tower and the newer Luxe Bar in the HRH Tower. Sports fans can enjoy watching the day's action on countless big-screen TVs spread throught The Ainsworth -- an elegant new nightlife-oriented venue from New York City that serves stellar cocktails and a small menu of upscale American bar food.During the summer months, guests can revel by day at Rehab (held at the Paradise Beach area). The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino originated the now widespread "pool party" in Las Vegas. In fact, the weekly Saturday and Sunday event has become legendary. Imagine a throng of bodies in the skimpiest of swimwear sunbathing, drinking and dancing to music spun by DJs in a stunning complex that consists of expansive freeform pools, a waterfall, sandy beach areas and kitted-out cabanas. Blackjack and other games are available at swim-up tables. For a more low-key experience in an equally lush landscape, go to Nirvana Pool, Breathe Pool or the pool sanctuary at the Reliquary Spa, which also features a menu of treatments from around the world. The dining is as self-indulgent as all other aspects of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Nobu is home to modern Japanese cuisine and Fú offers a unique fusion of Asian fare, while 35 Steaks + Martini mixes a classic steakhouse ambiance with sensual signature cocktails. For casual eats, there's Pink Taco and everyone's favorite -- locals and visitors alike -- Mr. Lucky's Café, which recently got a modern update in décor and food offerings. But you can still ask about the $7.77 special (a six-ounce steak, three shrimp and mashed potatoes), which isn't listed on the menu, at this laid-back 24-hour coffee shop. Restaurateur Sam Fox opened Culinary Dropout, a swanky drinking and pub grub-style dining spot, adjacent to the pool. Indulge in everything from fried chicken and biscuits to the signature After School Special cocktail here.In addition, the retail therapy at the resort is distinctive. All of the stores are targeted to youthful trendsetters. Visit Love Jones for lingerie and Rocks The Jeweler for some urban bling as well as John Varvatos for men's wear and the Hard Rock Store for logo gear. The Hart & Huntington Tattoo Co. even opened a locale for guests who get the urge for a new tatt.Last but not least, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has an extraordinary collection of rock 'n' roll memorabilia in frames and shadowboxes that line the walls and hallways throughout the premises. It's like going to the coolest music museum in the world and not having to pay a dime. With every corner turned, your eyes will behold things like a guitar from Coldplay, a drum kit used by Aerosmith and the clothes worn by Fergie, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera in their music videos. When you come right down to it, Las Vegas is Sin City, and by staying at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino the opportunities for sinfulness run rampant.-- By Renée LiButti

how long would it take to walk from strip to hard rock

It would take you about 45min to and hour. Since the Hard Rock isn't on the strip it makes for a long walk. A cab is only about 10 bucks there though. If you love music of any type its a awesome place to check out. In my book it's only second to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio when it comes to stuff they have in there. Great food awesome music and the casino is the perfect size in my opinion. It's not a journey from pit to pit. Also the pool is awesome and in the summer month they have swimup blackjack tables. Worth the cab ride. Hope this helps.
