Get a taste of a more sensuous side of reality with Cirque du Soleil's Zumanity at New York-New York. This show explores the different realms of sexuality through stunning imagery, aerialists, comical vignettes and sultry dancing. Unlike other Cirque du Soleil productions, Zumanity has no storyline. Instead, this highly eroticized, cabaret-style spectacular has an array of unique characters whose performances are each themed by different elements of sexuality. Before the show starts, characters appear in the audience for some playful interaction."If you are visiting Las Vegas and living la vida loca make some noise!" exclaims Antonio, the first character to appear. His irresistible charm, flirtatious personality and shiny gold suit captivate the audience. While he gets the crowd aroused with some jokes, the voluptuous Botero twin sisters, dressed in racy French maid outfits, squeeze their way through the aisles. Everyone laughs as the sisters find themselves in awkward positions reaching or bending over guests while trying to hand out fresh strawberries.Little by little, Antonio and the twins make their way to the stage with a parade of other intriguing characters as the real show begins. The show's Emcee, Edie, "the Mistress of Sensuality," is played by a flawless looking drag queen who explains that she will be your tour guide on your journey through the many facets of lust, passion and sensuality.Intense drum beats fill the theater as a savage looking dancer, dressed in little more than a beaded loin cloth, performs an African tribal dance of uninhibited passion. The music intensifies as he gyrates and thrusts his body to the beat of the drums. As new performers take the stage, the tone changes from subtle flirtations to that of hedonistic pleasure. The transition of acts and moods emulates the surge of various emotions that arise in every romantic relationship.Edie reappears to introduce the next act, a slower more sensual number that conveys innocence in the face of sinful indulgence."Do you remember your first wet kiss?" asks Edie as a large bowl of water and two beautiful women appear on stage. They slip into the water and gracefully make their way to the bowl's edge for a series of incredible and sensuous poses. The different acts and performers not only explore the many sides of sexuality but they also demonstrate the amazing capabilities of the human body. The tone of the show then transforms into that of flirtatious fun as a striking woman dressed in a sexy schoolgirl outfit performs an act with hula hoops. After spinning a few hoops she takes to flight by grabbing a rope hanging from the ceiling. She gracefully twists and poses above the stage while continuing to spin the hoops in mid-air.Each of the performers is unique in their personalities and appearances, promoting the idea that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. The Bolero sisters, along with a hilarious husband and wife duo, Mr. Dick and Mrs. Ginger, appear throughout the show for some comic relief. They turn some of the more taboo topics on sex into a source of laughter and fun for the audience.Elena, a gorgeous and sweet dancer, does a tantalizing routine on top of a television in attempt to grab the attention of her football-focused partner. Her sultry dance moves excite everyone in the audience. There are no topics off limits as Zumanity explores some of the darker sides of sex. Laetitia performs an exercise in self-inflicted pleasure and pain as she wraps herself in leather straps hanging from the ceiling. She uses the straps as a device for torture and teasing as she elegantly transitions into new poses while hanging above the stage. This intense scene is followed by a more romantic number with a male and female aerialist duo who perform a stunning dance using a white curtain hanging from the ceiling. They dazzle the audience with their graceful choreography in mid air before making their way back to the stage.Zumanity's uninhibited theme is a refreshing break from the norm. It takes an amusing look at sexuality and reminds us all that intimacy should always be about having fun.-- By Caroline Fontein

Sexy but not trashy!
PostedApril 6, 2013
My husband loved this show! It was a good combination of comedy, sexy and circus. I found some of the comedy a little over the top but again my husband thought it was perfect. The performers were amazing and I would say our favorites were the glass bowl and the couple that "danced".

You have probably seen him on television performing incredible illusions such as making the Statue of Liberty disappear, navigating the rapids of Niagara Falls and flying over the Grand Canyon. Master magician David Copperfield seems to have done it all. His show in Las Vegas is a unique opportunity for audiences to see these larger-than- life illusions performed live and up close in the Hollywood Theater at MGM Grand.Of course he can't exactly re-create all of them, but he demonstrates similar and equally amazing illusions using objects that are more suitable for a stage setting.Copperfield alludes to an illusion he did where he walked through the Great Wall of China and then explains that he is going to re-create that same illusion using a large metal sheet as the indestructible medium through which he will effortlessly pass. The metal sheet is placed on a raised platform, and Copperfield has two audience members come on stage to test it out by walking on it and hitting it with a rubber hammer.Next, he lies under the piece of metal, and four assistants hold a sheet over Copperfield and the platform. The assistants spin the platform around proving to the audience that there is no way out except by going through the metal. First you see just a finger poking through and then, within seconds, he miraculously appears on top of the metal sheet. This is just one of the mind-boggling magic tricks that he performs in the show. As the epitome of master magicians, Copperfield takes his illusions to another level of excitement and awe. Instead of doing the typical box trick where a woman is sliced in half, he locks himself in a box that begins to shrink in size. He smiles at the audience while moving his hands and feet as the box gets so small the entire length of his body has been reduced to mere inches. The box gradually gets bigger and Copperfield hops onto the stage saying, "that's how they made mini me," before moving on to his next illusion. He integrates his casual and comical personality into every act, resulting in laughter from the crowd.Audience interaction is a big part of the show as he incorporates a person picked at random for almost every illusion. You might even see him doing magic right in front of your seat when he performs illusions while standing in the audience. For one illusion he asks a woman to join him in the aisle on the side of the theater. He asks the woman to examine a piece of tissue paper before he rolls it into a ball and makes it levitate and dance along his arm with the tap of a finger.Unlike other magic shows in Las Vegas, Copperfield does not implement flashy showgirls, dancing or over the top production elements to supplement his illusions. His magic has enough of a wow factor on its own.His expertise as a magician dates back to when he was just 12 years old and started performing professionally. That same year he also became the youngest person ever to be admitted to the Society of American Magicians. From there, Copperfield went on to teach a course on magic at New York University when he was 16.During his first year in college, Copperfield starred in the Chicago musical, "The Magic Man," and as a result of the show's success he was selected to host ABC's "The Magic of ABC." From there he was offered his own series of specials with CBS titled "The Magic of David Copperfield." The series has been aired in over 40 countries. His illustrious career has made him a Guinness Book of World Record holder for having 21 Emmys, and he has a star on the Hollywood "Walk of Fame." Apart from his revue in Vegas, he continues to tour, performing sold out shows around the world. His enduring presence as a magician and integration into pop culture and even postage stamps proves that Copperfield's magic has no boundaries. He even demonstrates his ability to predict the future in an act where he gets people from the audience to provide him with different numbers that he later pulls from a box that has been hanging above the stage for the entire show.If just having the numbers on paper is not impressive enough, Copperfield also reveals a cassette tape with a recording of himself reciting the numbers that he plays for the audience. It is an astonishing feat that amazes everyone with the impossibility of it all.-- By Caroline Fontein

Great entertainment! Mediocre service.

Excellent show! David Copperfield was very entertaining, interaction with the audience often. I loved how down to earth he seemed even though I"m sure he says the same thing show after show, night after night. Great family show even if you have kids to take. I order a non-alcoholic beverage specifically off the "Non-alcoholic beverage" list (even pointed to it when ordering) and got one with alcohol in it anyway. When confronted the waitress said we needed to specify that we wanted the virgin version so we got charged ALOT for a drink I didn't even want. Disappointing.

We heard recently that there’s a Paris in France. We’ll forgive them for copying us. We know every other city wants to be Vegas. But since we’re the one and only Las Vegas, and since our Paris has incredible architectural features like the Arc de Triomphe, the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and La Fontaine des Mers at the Place de la Concorde, as well as the famed Eiffel Tower, we know exactly where you’ll want to spend your next Parisian getaway.Of all the magnificent aspects of this hotel, we know what you want to see first. Cross Le Pont Alexandre III, step into the beautiful glass elevator, and ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower which boasts spectacular views of the Fountains of Bellagio, the Strip and the outlying city. Where else in the world can you scale such an artistic piece of engineering and look down upon an Elvis impersonator dancing on the sidewalk to a Zach Galifianakis look alike? And where else in the world would you want to so badly? That’s just a taste of the magic that awaits you at Paris Las Vegas.Once you’ve got your souvenir cocktail from the Arc Bar outside, move into the casino to see what they’ve done with the other three legs of the Eiffel Tower. Sure, one of them is bathrooms – or Le Toilettes if you’re fancy – but the others bring together an atmosphere of light and poise that few modern hotels can match. The openness, which is enhanced by the blue sky-simulated ceiling, lampposts, lifelike leafy trees, breathtaking fountains and cobblestone walkways, will make you instantly understand why France is so jealous of our Paris. They can keep their endless vineyards and signature toast. We’ve got Gustav’s Casino Bar and Mon Ami Gabi -- a chic bar and brasserie featuring sophisticated bistro fare such as warm brie cheese, escargots, onion soup au gratin, crêpes and quiches. This restaurant was also the first to initiate outdoor patio dining on the Strip and routinely ends up on our "Best of" lists. So now you can sound even smarter when you’re talking about it.Entertainment at Paris Las Vegas is also très enchanting. (That’s the French word for very, not the Spanish word for three. “Three enchanting” wouldn’t make any sense.) The resort draws together headliners, cultural programs and exceptional performers. Le Théâtre des Arts houses the beloved Tony award-winning musical "Jersey Boys." And hypnotist Anthony Cools currently hosts an adults-only show during which audience members are invited onstage and then do unexpected things at his command (usually of an embarrassing and inappropriate nature). They say you can only be hypnotized if deep down you really want to be. So apparently some Vegas guests really want to do some hilariously messed up stuff on stage. If you’d rather just blame your poor choices and out of control behavior on booze and loud music, Chateau Nightclub includes a stunning interior complete with a vaulted ceiling, ornate chandeliers, sleek furnishings and rich fabrics as well as The Terrace overlooking the action on the Strip. Together these hotspots create a night full of magic and wonder that will make you wonder the next day what magic happened in your head. For something more upscale and less throbbing, world-class musicians regularly take the stage at Napoleon's, a dimly lit lounge that also serves more than 100 labels of champagne. And Le Cabaret Lounge hosts traditional cabaret evenings along with bands singing your favorite standards and pop songs in English and sometimes French. The the quick-tempered star of "Hell's Kitchen" opened Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas. But don’t worry, he rarely screams at paying customers – but maybe if you ask politely. Chef J. Joho presides over the elegant Eiffel Tower Restaurant, situated 11 stories above the Strip. Steve Martorano serves up homestyle Italian cuisine at Martorano's at Paris. Le Burger Brasserie puts a French twist on an American food classic. And the Sugar Factory, a sweets lover's paradise, offers excellent people watching on Las Vegas Boulevard. That’s a lot of incredible food. And it’s not even including Le Village Buffet yet. Clearly Paris Las Vegas is not a place where you’ll go hungry or go without an exceptional meal.Paris Las Vegas guests can also indulge in exotic pampering treatments such as Balinese massages and body polishes at the Paris Spa by Mandara. It includes a state-of-the-art fitness center as well as a relaxation lounge, sauna and steam room. The two-acre rooftop pool is another stunning facility with an outdoor café (du Parc) and luxurious private cabanas.Don’t get confused. There’s that knock-off in France with the sprawling streets and Beaux-Arts architecture, but this isn’t that. Accept no substitutes. When you’re looking for an elegant, enchanting and extravagant affair, Paris Las Vegas is the center of light and romance for you and anyone you happen to love.

We had a great view of the strip! The service was good, everyone was very helpful and polite. The buffet was good (the crepes fantastic!). Disappointed we couldn't walk over the bridge because we weren't willing to pay for an Eiffel Tower ride.

We are staying at Paris Las Vegas in Luxury room, are there coffee pots?

I asked this question earlier, but they referred to the Luxor Hotel. Not staying there, Need info for Paris.
We did not have one in our room. It was pretty clear they wanted you to spend your money downstairs. There were however less expensive coffee shops close by in the "mall" areas.
