The Quad Resort & Casino is being transformed into The LINQ Hotel & Casino. All of the rooms as well as the pool deck, spa and retail area are being renovated. Construction has already begun. The name change will be official on Oct. 30, 2014, with construction due to be completed by spring 2015. The resort will remain open throughout construction. If you're looking for a Vegas resort with a prime location at the center of the Strip and very affordable prices, a good place to keep at the top of your mind is The Quad Resort & Casino. Much of The Quad's interior and exterior have been refurbished. Among the new elements are a renovated porte cochere, casino floor and Catalyst Bar. The Quad is also connected to The LINQ, an outdoor entertainment, shopping and dining district that houses the High Roller observation wheel. O'Sheas Casino has debuted as well -- with three bars, 11 table games, 15 video poker machines and six beer pong tables. Caesars Entertainment has announced that The Quad will be rebranded as The LINQ Hotel & Casino on Oct. 30, 2014. As part of a $223 million renovation project, the property's 2,256 rooms and suites will be remodeled to feature contemporary decor elements as well as pillow-top mattresses, 47-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations with speakers and rain shower heads. In addition, a new pool area (featuring both a standard hotel pool and a dayclub experience), a new lobby bar, a new spa and fitness center, and the new Vortex Roof Deck, are under construction and will debut in spring 2015.The Quad is an always-bustling, mid-sized property situated within walking distance from several of the city's most famous resorts -- including Caesars Palace, The Mirage, Flamingo, Bally's and Harrah's.The Quad also boasts a Las Vegas Monorail stop, which means you'll have easy access to most of the hotels up and down South Las Vegas Boulevard.Catering to visitors of all ages and from all walks of life, The Quad is not a stuffy, elite-style resort. The amenities are spread throughout several floors. The ground floor houses the action-packed casino. It tends to be crowded around the clock. One of focal points in the casino is the Dealertainers pit. You can sit down at blackjack tables where celebrity impersonators dressed as Beyoncé, Elvis, Pink and many more deal the cards. Often, they have to excuse themselves to belt out one of their character's hits from the elevated stage.Take the escalator to the second floor and you'll discover additional entertainment options. Jeff Civillico does comedy juggling and other stunts in the afternoon. You can also see the drag extravaganza "Divas Las Vegas" starring Frank Marino in the evening. Or Recycled Percussion, a group that pounds away on everything from buckets and trash cans to ladders and power tools, also perform in a rock 'n' roll-oriented production in the evening. The place to drink at the resort is Fat Tuesday, where you can order a variety of frozen daiquiris, perfect to cool you down during the hot summer months. Beers and cocktails of all kinds are available in the casino at the Catalyst Bar. TAG Lounge & Bar also offers more than 300 bottled, can and large-format brews from the U.S. and around the world -- you can even serve yourself at pour-your-own-draft tables. If history is more your thing, check out The Auto Collections. More than 250 classic or historically significant vehicles are being displayed on the fifth floor of the hotel's self-parking garage -- some of which are for sale.?The Quad is home to several great dining options. Chef Guy Fieri, of Food Network's top-rated show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," has opened his first Las Vegas restaurant -- called Guy Fieri's Kitchen & Bar -- at the north entrance of the resort. South-of-the-border cuisine along with an array of margaritas and a mechanical bull are offered at Chayo Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar at the south end of the property. The Quad also boasts has a Hash House A Go Go. The chain restaurant is known for its delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner comfort foods -- which come in oversized portions. Watch the big games on one of the 12 large screens in the spacious sports book on the third floor. Horse racing fans will be impressed by the stadium-style seating, complete with 230 individual monitors.Work up a sweat in the fitness center. You can get a manicure in The Salon at The Quad, but the spa is currently closed for renovation.Clean and comfortable, The Quad's towers feature a variety of accommodations ranging from classic rooms with all the basics to deluxe "luv tub" rooms that have spa tubs thrown into the mix. Plus, pet-loving guests are welcome to bring their four-legged friends (weighing less than 50 pounds) to lodge in the special PetStay rooms. For those wanting to tie the knot, the Silver Sky Chapel features two fine venues: the signature Skyline Chapel and the Southwestern Chapel with a desert motif. The resort has a stretch of souvenir stores located near the room elevators as well. Shops include Amparo, Whiskey Run, Gifts to Go and Relaxation Palace. The Quad is a resort offering value-oriented accommodations. Whether you are coming to party with a group of friends, bringing your family for a vacation or attending a conference, the hotel is sure to suit you.-- By Renée LiButtiNOTE: Due to construction at The Quad, as it is being transformed into The LINQ Hotel & Casino, guests may may encounter temporary inconveniences, construction walls and some noise during daytime hours. The Quad's spa and pool are currently closed for remodeling. Guests can use the Beach Club pool at Flamingo Las Vegas or the pools at Paris Las Vegas and the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

Shania Twain's show at Caesars Palace is a welcome return for fans of the woman who is one of the biggest stars in country pop music.Twain's 1997 album "Come On Over" skyrocketed the singer to worldwide fame. The album became the best-selling album of all time by a female musician and the best-selling country music album of all time. A five-time Grammy Award-winner, Twain has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide, including 50 million albums in the United States. She's the top-selling female country artist of all time and has multiplatinum album sales in 32 countries. Her production at the Colosseum is called Shania: Still the One and she definitely proves she still has that special something that first made her famous. After being away from performing so long it's only fitting that Twain make a big, splashy entrance at the beginning of her show and she succeeds by flying in above the stage on a motorcycle in a sparkling cat suit before launching into "I'm Gonna Getcha Good," the first of many of the hit songs she performs throughout the night.Fans will be delighted to hear all of Twain's familiar tunes during the course of the show like "Don't be Stupid," "You Win My Love," "Whose Bed Have your Boots Been Under?" and "Up!"The stage transforms several times during the show and the next segment features a very country feel with a saloon set and the performers dressed in Old West-style costumes. Performers include a live band with several fiddle players, four energetic male dancers and three backup singers, including Twain's sister Carrie Ann Brown and RyanDan, a Canadian musical, songwriting and producing duo, consisting of identical twins Ryan and Dan Kowarsky. The mood changes to a more rock/pop style and so does Twain's costume -- to a leopard-print outfit similar to the one she wore in the video for "That Don't Impress Me Much." She sings that song, as well as other favorites like "Honey I'm Home" and "If You're not In it for Love (I'm Outta Here!)"Next, the stage is transformed into a campfire setting with a faux fire and a woodsy background on the Colosseum's massive screens. Twain brings a few lucky people up on stage from the audience to sit around the fire and sing acoustic songs. She talks about her favorite memories of singing as a child and with her family before performing a bit of music a capella with her backup singers. After a couple of tunes sung around the campfire, Twain sings a song that might be less familiar to people, but is the newest one she has recorded, "Today is Your Day."One of the biggest highlights of the show comes when she launches into her two huge hit ballads. She wears a flowing white gown and arrives on stage on the back of a beautiful white horse. The screens project birch trees and falling snow in the background as she sings "You're Still the One." The horse is led offstage and billowing white curtains descend as Twain sings "From This Moment On."The show ends with a bang with one of Twain's biggest hits, "Man, I Feel Like a Woman." Confetti is blasted out over the audience and S-H-A-N-I-A is spelled out in massive lights. Throughout the show Twain talks to the audience and clearly enjoys being back on stage. "I realize what I've been missing, thanks to you," she says. Judging by the multiple standing ovations the crowd gives her it's clear they have missed her too.-- By Kristine McKenzie
