Sail away to the Caribbean in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. Treasure Island (also known by its hipper initials as "the TI") is something of a tropical island getaway -- and it's set along a beautiful manmade cove. You can celebrate the spirit of the high seas as well as the legacy of pirates here. The décor is reminiscent of the lively markets of colonial times. Instead of a snooze on a hammock, guests rest their weary heads on the resort's exclusive Elite Sensational pillow-top beds in the 2,885 rooms and suites, all are which are outfitted with modern-day amenities.Like the tropics, lazy days at Treasure Island are devoted to sun, swaying palm trees and island foods. Relax on the beach-like pool deck (complete with a 25-person hot tub!) and while away a few hours in Kahunaville Tropical Restaurant. You can have a bite of something exotic, like the Calypso calamari, or get an island-infused drink prepared by a flair bartender at the "Party Bar."The hub of the activity at the resort occurs near the entrance from Las Vegas Boulevard, where you will discover several rollicking bars, restaurants and shops. Things often get wild and crazy in Gilley's Saloon, Dance Hall & Bar-B-Q. There are multiple bars within a hangar-like atmosphere. Patrons can drink, watch bikini bull riding contests, dance and listen to live bands. The restaurant, which specializes in barbecue cooking, runs along the front of Treasure Island and sports glass windows looking onto the Strip.Infamous in Mexico for its party scene -- and now at Treasure Island -- is Señor Frog's. Along with great south-of-the-border food, it has a spring break-style vibe. Antics such as shots being poured into your mouth or dancing on tabletops are highly encouraged...but there's an outside balcony for those who just want to chill out, too..For more traditionally staged entertainment, get tickets to "Mystère" -- which is anything but traditional. This imaginative production is packed with over-the-top props and daring feats of human strength and agility. "Mystère" is the longest running permanent Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas.Several bars are spread throughout the premises including the upscale Breeze Bar and the outdoor Margarita Bar. Need a quick bite? Choose from a variety of fast-served favorites, such as slices of pizza at Pizzeria Francesco's, delicious hot dogs at Little Richie's Chicago-Style Beef and Dogs or pastries and coffee at Starbucks. The Coffee Shop and The Buffet at TI are two more wonderful options for speedy, cooked meals morning, noon or night. In addition, you can sit down to a fine, slower-paced meal at Phil's Italian Steakhouse. Fennel-crusted halibut, spinach and ricotta-stuffed free-range chicken breast  and other American fare with Italian twists are created in its Tuscan wood-fired kitchen.A sanctuary for the senses, Oleksandra Spa & Salon is a place that offers peace and profound relaxation. Perched on the third floor, the menu boasts an array of relaxing and revitalizing treatments from around the world, like Swedish, ayurvedic and Lomi Lomi massages.Interested in shopping? You'll find something for everyone -- from jewelry and souvenirs to perfume and apparel. Don't miss the unique items sold at the Couture, TI Bling Co. and Adixion stores. A pedestrian bridge leading to the Fashion Show mall, one of the city's most prestigious shopping venues, is also just steps away. Plus, construction has started on a new three-story, 40,000-square-foot retail center on the northeast corner of the property opposite the Fashion Show Mall. The new retail center is scheduled to open in fall 2014.Perfect for swashbucklers and buccaneers -- or anyone interested in a fun and affordable Vegas visit -- Treasure Island has so many entertainment, dining, shopping and gaming options, along with plush accommodations, you'll think it's all been pillaged and plundered!-- By Renée LiButti

If you're looking for a place to stay in Las Vegas that will put you close to all the party action, head to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The resort boasts a 24-hour rockin' atmosphere that appeals to the young, hip and trendy.Located a few blocks east of the Strip, which isn't far but can be a challenging walk (especially if you've had a few too many drinks), the hotel oozes rollicking good times -- from its peerless concert venue and pool complex to its sleek nightclub, swanky restaurants and super sexy retail offerings.Built in 1995, the "old" Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is as happening as ever. And, as a result of an expansion project that concluded in 2010, the property has added a couple of new room towers -- the luxurious Paradise Tower and the all-suite HRH Tower -- as well as several pools and leisure amenities.Of course, live music reigns supreme at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and The Joint has an incomparable reputation. What other stage has been graced by Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, Incubus, Linkin Park and The Killers, just to name a few? Following a redesign, this state-of-the-art facility now has seating for 4,000 people along with sound, projection and lighting systems that are so advanced they defy easy description. Simply put, there's no better place in town to see and hear your favorite performers. The resort recently debuted a more intimate live entertainment venue -- Vinyl. It features a diversity of genres along with local bands, comedy and late-night burlesque. The main nightclub at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is Body English. It's a sensual place -- filled with leather furnishings and giant chandeliers -- that showcases indie, electronic, rock and pop music. The resort also has Vanity (it's only open for special events and parties), with a decadent interior that includes hand-cut crystals, antique mirrors, chrome accents and rich tapestries. Those who want to forego the nightclub scene will still find a party vibe in every other nook and cranny of the property. Two circular bars crammed with people are the beloved Center Bar in the original Casino Tower and the newer Luxe Bar in the HRH Tower. Sports fans can enjoy watching the day's action on countless big-screen TVs spread throught The Ainsworth -- an elegant new nightlife-oriented venue from New York City that serves stellar cocktails and a small menu of upscale American bar food.During the summer months, guests can revel by day at Rehab (held at the Paradise Beach area). The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino originated the now widespread "pool party" in Las Vegas. In fact, the weekly Saturday and Sunday event has become legendary. Imagine a throng of bodies in the skimpiest of swimwear sunbathing, drinking and dancing to music spun by DJs in a stunning complex that consists of expansive freeform pools, a waterfall, sandy beach areas and kitted-out cabanas. Blackjack and other games are available at swim-up tables. For a more low-key experience in an equally lush landscape, go to Nirvana Pool, Breathe Pool or the pool sanctuary at the Reliquary Spa, which also features a menu of treatments from around the world. The dining is as self-indulgent as all other aspects of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Nobu is home to modern Japanese cuisine and Fú offers a unique fusion of Asian fare, while 35 Steaks + Martini mixes a classic steakhouse ambiance with sensual signature cocktails. For casual eats, there's Pink Taco and everyone's favorite -- locals and visitors alike -- Mr. Lucky's Café, which recently got a modern update in décor and food offerings. But you can still ask about the $7.77 special (a six-ounce steak, three shrimp and mashed potatoes), which isn't listed on the menu, at this laid-back 24-hour coffee shop. Restaurateur Sam Fox opened Culinary Dropout, a swanky drinking and pub grub-style dining spot, adjacent to the pool. Indulge in everything from fried chicken and biscuits to the signature After School Special cocktail here.In addition, the retail therapy at the resort is distinctive. All of the stores are targeted to youthful trendsetters. Visit Love Jones for lingerie and Rocks The Jeweler for some urban bling as well as John Varvatos for men's wear and the Hard Rock Store for logo gear. The Hart & Huntington Tattoo Co. even opened a locale for guests who get the urge for a new tatt.Last but not least, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has an extraordinary collection of rock 'n' roll memorabilia in frames and shadowboxes that line the walls and hallways throughout the premises. It's like going to the coolest music museum in the world and not having to pay a dime. With every corner turned, your eyes will behold things like a guitar from Coldplay, a drum kit used by Aerosmith and the clothes worn by Fergie, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera in their music videos. When you come right down to it, Las Vegas is Sin City, and by staying at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino the opportunities for sinfulness run rampant.-- By Renée LiButti

For visitors wanting to be in the center of the magic and excitement on the Las Vegas Strip, the Flamingo is a wonderful option. It's located near the always busy Flamingo Road/Las Vegas Boulevard intersection. The north entrance of the resort is also connected to The Linq, a retail, dining and entertainment district that boasts a giant observation wheel called the High Roller. Plus, when compared to many of the elite hotels in the area, the rooms here offer comfort and luxury at more affordable prices.Situated in the heart of paradise, the laid-back Flamingo is also themed for paradise. In fact, it's always five o'clock in the Margaritaville Casino. Inspired by singer Jimmy Buffett's island-escapism lyrics, the resort constructed a 15,000-square-foot casino at the front of the property that opens right onto Las Vegas Boulevard. The décor features palm trees and tropical colors. Bikini-clad babes serve cocktails, while flair bartenders keep tabs on the shack-style 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar.  Margaritaville Casino is complemented by the multilevel, Caribbean-themed Margaritaville restaurant, which boasts two patios overlooking the Strip and a huge retail store. Festival-like sights and sounds are all around. Parrot Heads can dine in a wooden boat or on its bow. Not only is the place buzzing with Buffett's hits, but there are stilt walkers who craft balloon hats and waitresses who slide down from the top of the three-story Volcano Bar and land in a 300-gallon blender of margarita mix.The party vibe can also be found in the Flamingo Showroom. The family musical duo Donny and Marie Osmond host a nightly extravaganza presenting their greatest hits. (Note: Fans can view costumes from their TV stints on "Dancing with the Stars" and Donny's mirrored disco ball trophy in exhibit cases near the lobby.) Olivia Newton-John is also appearing in "Summer Nights," a residency that runs on select dates until Jan. 3, 2015. You can catch the celebrity impersonators of "Legends in Concert" in the afternoons. In the late evening hours at the X Showroom, men will get all hot and bothered by the beautiful dancers in "X Burlesque" -- while women can learn the secrets to the cast's sexy moves at XBU - X Burlesque University.Another major attraction at the Flamingo is the Wildlife Habitat. Its impeccably manicured grounds are home to pink Chilean flamingos, wood ducks, koi, turtles and other fascinating creatures -- all of which coexist peacefully together. If you are captivated by the playful critters, you may want to have a meal -- breakfast, lunch, dinner or weekend brunch -- in the Paradise Garden Buffet, which overlooks the habitat.Amid the 15 acres of lush greenery lie the resort's spectacular pools. The main pools are interconnected and feature lagoon areas, a seasonal waterslide, a meandering river and cascading waterfalls. For a trendy dayclub experience, visitors will want to check out the Go Pool (open during summer only), where a DJ pumps up the volume for guests reveling in chaise lounges, daybeds and VIP cabanas. In the vicinity, near the enchanting garden and gazebo wedding chapels, a plaque marks the site of the original hotel (erected in 1946 and knocked down in 1993). It also pays tribute to the Flamingo's infamous founder, Bugsy Siegel. This resort is one of the few left in Las Vegas with links to the past. Be sure to behold its pulsating pink and orange neon façade, another rarity in this day and age. When you get hungry, you'll find plenty of places for a relaxing, casual meal -- from the Tropical Breeze Café to the food court. Hamada of Japan serves up an authentic Japanese dining experience, complete with teppan demonstration cooking and a sushi bar. Featuring a black interior with pink accents, the Center Cut Steakhouse perfectly cooks organic steaks, Kobe burgers and rack of lamb. And Carlos'n Charlie's restaurant and bar is known for great food and overflowing spirits -- which often lead to impromptu dancing on the tables and chairs. The restaurant has an expansive indoor dining room and an outdoor patio. In contrast to the resort's easy-going vibe, the action in the casino is always fast-paced. You'll discover a party pit, with female dealers manning pink felt-covered blackjack tables, by the open-air entrance near Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon. A sexy pole dancer entertains from a small cage suspended above the gaming floor. A friendly poker room is tucked next to the lobby, and the race & sports book makes sure all the games are right in your face.Named for the legendary mobster, players can grab a drink in the casino at Bugsy's Bar.There is a wide range of rooms available at the Flamingo. The Go rooms and the recently renovated FAB rooms both have stylish and funky interior design elements as well as flat-screen TVs and other modern amenities. Pets (dogs weighing less than 50 pounds) are welcome in the specially designated PetStay section of the hotel, which contains a dog relief area.Pamper yourself at The Spa. Or if you'd prefer to get out and about, transportation is easy. There's a Las Vegas Monorail station on the premises, so you'll have access to several other resorts along the Strip.-- By Renée LiButti

Shining in the spotlight of the Las Vegas Strip, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino boasts gourmet restaurants, world-class shopping and dazzling entertainment that has hotel-casino patrons cheering for an encore.Like the plot of a motion picture, this classic Las Vegas casino -- where Elvis and Priscilla Presley were married -- once rose from the dead: It was imploded in 1998 and then rebuilt from the ground up. As for its most recent dazzling special effect, the Aladdin lifted the curtain to Hollywood in Sin City when it was reborn as Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Since Planet Hollywood's arrival, the property has made a metamorphosis from its lackluster Arabian-theme into a high-tech, retro-chic attraction unlike any other Strip property.Though infused with a taste of Hollywood culture, the vibe at Planet Hollywood is intended to be welcoming and unpretentious. Who knows, you might even find yourself sitting down to play blackjack next to Jack Black. The hotel's movie theme is played out in the rooms through film memorabilia displayed in custom-designed cabinetry. The glamorous 12,800-square-foot lobby at Planet Hollywood has eight chandeliers, each comprised of 66,000 individually hand-strung crystals. Black granite floors, textured glass walls and large columns beckon guests to the check-in desk, where bands of LED lights continuously change color. The 100,000-square-foot casino appears to be in constant motion with glowing rectangular light fixtures, which change colors from red to blue to green to purple. Tall pillars with either geometric patterns or stripes reach from the floor to the ceiling, and neon LED lights brighten the walls. More than 250 flat screen televisions can be found topping slot machines, while 87 table games await those ready to try their luck. Additional gaming options, include a race and sports book and a poker room. For a bite to eat, head to the Spice Market Buffet or choose from the large menu at the 24-hour coffee shop Planet Dailies. Upstairs on the mezzanine level, Strip House redefines the traditional steakhouse with an innovative menu in a sexy, vintage atmosphere, while Koi, a well-recognized L.A. restaurant and lounge, combines the exotic Far Eastern aura with the energy and style of Hollywood. On the casino level, the first Las Vegas outpost of Earl of Sandwich makes sandwich eating a gourmet treat and the festive cantina Yolos provides a modern tribute to Mexican culture. And Gordon Ramsay BurGR takes the traditional burger to a new level.Planet Hollywood's Strip entrances are eye-catching and easy to access. They are clearly marked with escalators or stairs leading people off the Strip and into the property. Music plays at the doorways while color-changing orbs decorate the front of the hotel. There is also a clear entrance to the attached Miracle Mile Shops, which is owned separately from the hotel. The mammoth mall has more than 140 stores and dozen restaurants -- like Urban Outfitters, Build-A-Bear Workshop, GAP Body, BCBG Max Azaria and bebe -- incorporating something for every discerning taste. There are also several restaurants including the Meatball Spot, which offers an array of gourmet meatballs, authentic flatbreads, gourmet sandwiches and a salad bar with 36 different toppings. As expected in Hollywood, Planet Hollywood is packed with high-caliber entertainment. It's home to pop icon Britney Spears, who is starring in "Britney: Piece of Me." Staged in The Axis, a state-of-the-art theater, this is one of the largest indoor immersive productions in the world. "Sin City Comedy & Burlesque," a combination of world-class stand-up with sinfully sexy burlesque, and "Compendium -- Rock 'N Roll All Night," a U2 tribute show, are in the Sin City Theatre on the Mezz level. "RockTellz & CockTails," which features a series of legacy artists (such as Meat Loaf and The Jacksons) who perform as well as share stories from their careers, runs in the PH Showroom. Comedian Jeff Dunham and his troupe of sidekicks will also begin appearing there on Nov. 28, 2014.Center stage in the casino of Planet Hollywood is a circular hot spot called the Heart Bar, a place to hang out with the beautiful people while sipping on drinks served by cocktail waitresses in black leather go-go attire. Guests can grab their 15 minutes of fame at the Extra Lounge, the new Las Vegas headquarters for the correspondents and crew of television's "Extra." Located near the hotel's front entrance, this 24-hour bar is the perfect spot to see who's coming and going. For a tranquil retreat from the flurry of shoppers, concert goers and gamblers, the Planet Hollywood Spa by Mandara offers relaxing body therapies from around the world, as well as saunas and steam rooms. With such superior treatment, you will truly feel like a movie star.--Staff Report
