We sometimes throw around the term “affordable.” But that doesn’t mean cheap. South Point is less expensive mainly because of its location. South of major hotels like Mandalay Bay, South Point is still on Las Vegas Boulevard, making it just a short car ride away from your favorite attractions. But South Point really makes use of its extra space with its chief attraction, the revered Equestrian Complex.Hosting riding and rodeo events year-round in a 4,600 seat arena with 1,200 climate-controlled horse stalls, the complex is sure to make equine aficionados feel right at home. And if you’re a seriously hardcore rodeo fan, you just might recognize the giant statue of local gaming maverick Benny Binion on horseback situated near the entry--a simple tribute to the man who brought the National Finals Rodeo to Las Vegas.Though the Equestrian Complex is the likely the biggest draw, South Point has plenty of entertainment for those who just think horses are pretty but don’t really want to get close enough to smell them. The hotel is home to a 16-screen movie theater, a fine bingo room and a 64-lane bowling center. And the Showroom at South Point features a variety of singers, bands and comedians. And, like practically every inch of South Point, those spots can all involve some drinks. It could be said that the casino floor is a really just a mall of bars. In fact, we’re actually going to say it. If you tried to get a shot and a beer at everyone one of them you’d probably get kicked out for drunkenly doing something stupid around the fourth one. So don’t try that. Pick a couple and have a fun night. The Malibu Bar and Island Bar serve up tropical spirits, while the Lobby Bar is a focal gathering point in the heart of the casino. The Silverado Lounge offers a classic, Old West ambiance with a wood-paneled bar and overstuffed chairs. By the race and sports book, the Del Mar Lounge is a great spot for a cold beer during the game, and the Grandview Lounge at the southern end of the casino has a "Cheers"-like vibe and often hosts dance bands on weekend nights. And be sure to get some food in you before you drink.Michael's, throughout its 20-year history, has won accolades for the excellent filet mignon, sirloin steak and seafood preparations. Meat lovers looking for a more casual setting with equally succulent cuts can try the Silverado Steakhouse or Primarily Prime Rib. Exotic cravings are filled with the freshly made pastas in Don Vito's and south-of-the-border favorites at Baja Miguel's. The Asian restaurant Zenshin serves the freshest sashimi, nigiri and sushi rolls -- including their Vegas-themed 777, Double Down Salmon and Jackpot Rolls. For quick ways to appease your hunger pangs in between hands of poker and other casino play, try the Coronado Café or the Garden Buffet, which offers six live cooking stations. The Del Mar Deli is a fabulous spot for New York-style soups, sandwiches and decadent desserts. Plus, the beloved Midwestern chain Steak 'n Shake, known for its "steakburgers" and hand-dipped shakes, opened its first Las Vegas location inside the South Point. Between the abundant food and drinks and all that space to let your horse run around and fetch sticks or whatever it is horses do that make them so entertaining, South Point is an equestrian’s dream. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a fun place to get dinner, hang out at a bar and do a little gambling away from the confines of the Strip. Plus it’s affordable. And we all know what that means -- more money for drinks.

Do you have transportation to the strips ?

On-site transportation options are:

Free tram to Mandalay Bay or Luxor (to get to Luxor via the tram, you have to go to Mandalay Bay and switch trams to double back to Luxor, even though it is actually closer to Excalibur).

Pedestrian walkways to the opposite side of the street to catch the bus (Deuce for the Strip, or Express to Fremont St and the Premium Shopping Outlets)

Walk around New York New York, through Monte Carlo, and into Aria to take a free tram to Bellagio.

Taxi stand at the front door.

Hear ye! Hear ye! Gather round, fair maidens, brave knights and jesters of all shapes and sizes. Prepare yourselves for all the righteous revelry of the Middle Ages, minus the black plague and with much less chance of being executed for being a witch. If you've ever fantasized about staying in a castle, but didn't feel like giving up TV, room service or indoor plumbing, Excalibur is the ideal mix of modern convenience and seventh century style.Have a few wee ones you'd love to take on vacation before it's time to kick them out of the castle? Excalibur is the perfect place for a family getaway. Let your kids, and yourself, go wild playing arcade and all other sorts of games in the Fun Dungeon – the most fun you can have in a dungeon without being the dungeon master. The pool area has a waterslide. (Note: Waterslide is probably not historically accurate.) And the Tournament of Kings, a show fit for royalty, or anyone who's a fan of jousting, will enthrall fans of all ages. Once the kids have gone to bed, the adults can indulge in the naughtier side of nightlife with Thunder From Down Under, a raucous adventure full of the hottest men of the Outback stripping down to their knickers for your enjoyment. If the biggest reason you want to rule a kingdom is to see nearly naked men dance for your pleasure, then this is the show and the venue for you. And never let anyone tell you to rethink your priorities.Once you've worked up a medieval appetite from watching hunks dance and sword fight, or from doing whatever it is you choose to do in the dungeon, Excalibur has a variety of restaurants for you to slam your goblet on the table and demand more mutton. The Steakhouse at Camelot, a Zagat Award winner, prepares fine cuts of beef, fresh seafood and decadent desserts. Enjoy Old World hospitality and family-style service at the beloved Italian restaurant chain Buca di Beppo. A bountiful selection of small-batch comfort dishes abounds at The Buffet at Excalibur. And if you're so over the royal treatment, head to the not so subtly named Dick's Last Resort to savor a menu of pub grub complete with Macho Nachos, Mumbo Jumbo Chicky Wings and the Big Ass Burger all while tolerating the sarcastic staff who make you feel like a whelp being walloped for something you know you totally deserve. On the weekends an area dubbed "The Party Pit" features table games set near a stage topped with scantily clad dancing girls. And the 12-table poker room hosts a sexy "Strip Poker Tournament" on Saturday nights, where guests can watch a lovely lady remove items of her clothing on losing hands. But if you want something more romantic, have a fairytale wedding in full garb, or whatever you happen to be wearing when you decide to get married, at the Canterbury Wedding Chapel. For a family affair, or an affair of the medieval kind, Excalibur has excitement, extravagance and an extra helping of magic that will make you feel like you've been exported to a far off land. Really you'll still be in Vegas, so you can easily take the monorail down to Luxor and Mandalay or walk across to New York New York. But Excalibur is all about embracing the fantasy. So live it up ye kings, queens and knaves. The glory of Excalibur awaits thee.
