There's always something going on at the Stratosphere, which is conveniently situated between downtown Las Vegas and the Strip. The resort, which boasts the tallest freestanding tower in the United States, is also home to several great restaurants, two enjoyable shows, plenty of shops and four heart-stopping thrill rides. At 1,149 feet, the Stratosphere Tower dwarfs everything else in the city. Since it extends to such a great height, it's visible from nearly every vantage point in Las Vegas. So you can just imagine the extraordinary perspective you'll have when looking down upon the entire valley from the top. In less than 40 seconds, high-speed elevators will take you to the 109th floor, where there's an indoor and outdoor observation deck. It's hard to believe four thrill rides and the Air Bar -- as you may find you need a drink! -- are also located here. Screams of terror as well as delight can be heard coming from X-Scream (something of a giant teeter totter), Insanity (a chaotic spinning ride) and SkyJump (a cable-controlled freefall). The Big Shot, a fearsome ride that shoots straight up into the air and then drops back down to the launch pad, somehow temporarily eliminates the feeling of gravity.A safer and saner way to enjoy the tower is with a fine meal in the Top of the World restaurant. One of Las Vegas' premier gourmet rooms, it serves sophisticated cuisine impeccably paired with wine and complemented by a 360-degree view of the city -- because the floor makes a complete rotation every 80 minutes. If you just want to sip on a cocktail while taking in the extraordinary views, head up a floor to the Level 107 Lounge.Preparing eccellènte pasta and other Italian delights is the pride and joy of Fellini's Ristorante Italiano. Singing for your supper is all the rage at Roxy's Diner. The cool waitstaff in this nostalgic restaurant, known for its old-fashioned home cooking, often put on a show. Stop by McCall's Heartland Grill for a hearty mix of steak and seafood in a Midwestern-style restaurant. The Buffet -- with its array of cuisines, carving stations, a deli area and fresh-baked pastries -- is simply delicious at any time of the day. Or the Tower Pizzeria & Creamery is a great place to grab a quick slice and a scoop of ice cream.Frankie Moreno and his 10-piece band create a party atmosphere each evening in the resort's main showroom with their undeniable musical talent, swagger and shots of Crown Royal whiskey. They play a captivating collection of classic covers and original hits. Moreno has also produced a show called "Pin Up." The swingin' production stars Claire Sinclair, a Playboy Playmate, and was choreographed by Lacey Schwimmer of "Dancing with the Stars."Open seasonally, summers at the Stratosphere are best spent at the Level 8 Pool, located on the eighth floor. In addition to a hot tub, poolside café and bar, you'll always find a game of water volleyball in session. For a more serious workout, check out the resort's 24-hour fitness center. Or do something wonderful for both your body and spirit by getting treatment, massage or facial at the Roni Josef International Salon & Spa. It's guaranteed to melt all your stresses away! For those who dream of shopping around the world, there's the Tower Shops with 32 stores and an eclectic mix of retail carts. Explore the avenues of Paris, the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong and the ritzy neighborhoods of New York City at this unique retail complex that features replicated street scenes from those iconic shopping cities.About a mile from both the heart of the Strip and downtown, the Stratosphere offers visitors a convenient connection to all the action via The Deuce and the Strip and Downtown Express bus systems. No visit to Las Vegas would be complete without exploring the Stratosphere and its famous tower -- and staying here is even better. The resort is affordably priced and perfectly placed for a fantastic vacation!-- By Renée LiButti

HOTEL ROOMS ON THE DELUXE AREA WERE VERY FAR FROM THE MAIN CASINO AND PARKING LOT.
ROOMS ON THE DLEUXE AREA VERY SMALL AND ALMOST NO FURNITURE AT ALL, IT FELT I WAS LIVING IN A PROJECT ALMOST.
BESIDES THAT, THE STRATOSPHERE HAS EXCELLENT GAMES ON TOP OF THE TOWER, VERY SCARY BUT EXCITING, CASINO STAFF VERY FRIENDLY I FELT LIKE EVERYONE WAS MY FRIEND AND TREATED ME LIKE ONE. DRINKS KEPT COMING TO YOUR TABLE ALL NIGHT AT NO CHARGE, JUST DONTT FORGET TO TIP. THE TOWER HAS A VERY GOOD RESTAURANT UP TOP, PRETTY EXPENSIVE BUT GOOD. oh and also they have 5 dollars black jack
IS OK TO SLEEP IN BUT BETTER GET A CAR OR TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SINC ETHE MAIN STRIP OR FREEMONT IS VERY FAR AWAY.

A lush, tropical-themed resort, Mandalay Bay offers a variety of accommodation choices -- from the relaxed ambience of its main towers to the sheer luxury of THEhotel (which will begin construction in mid 2014 and reopen as the Delano Las Vegas in September 2014), the contemporary all-suite adjoining tower. With an enviable location on the southern tip of the Strip, just a short distance from the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, Mandalay Bay not only features all the comforts of home, but also an array of restaurants, attractions, bars and entertainment options that are worlds beyond the ordinary. This 120-acre hotel is all things to all people. Families, couples, singles, business travelers, the college crowd, seniors...everyone is catered to here. Massive in size and grand in architecture, Mandalay Bay is an events marvel. Not only are world-class concerts and world-championship sporting contests hosted in the 12,000-seat Mandalay Bay Events Center, but you'll also discover all sorts of functions in the three-story, 1.7 million-square-foot Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Other venues at the resort are always rocking -- like the House of Blues concert hall and its fashionable Foundation Room, which sits high atop the property on the 43rd floor."Michael Jackson ONE," created by the estate of Michael Jackson and Cirque du Soleil, is an over-the-top visual and audio experience is meant to evoke Jackson's creative genius. Filled with his music, the show follows four misfits on a transformative adventure that will end on a note of unity, harmony and hope for a better world. In addition, the beach-loving resort has devoted itself completely to the sun-seeking pleasures of life. Take the Mandalay Bay Beach, for example. This 11-acre water complex is comprised of more than 2,700 tons of sand. There are also four swimming pools, a lazy river and a 1.6-million-gallon wave pool. Guests can while away afternoons in extravagant private gazebos, cabanas and bungalows. Concerts are held on a huge outdoor stage during the summer months, while gaming is available in the Beachside Casino and food and drinks are served in the open-air Beach Bar & Grill. Adults will likely be lured into the secluded, European-style Moorea Beach Club, which has enticing daybeds, opium beds, dipping pools and its own poolside bar.At Mandalay Bay, guests also have a unique opportunity to explore a remarkable collection of marine predators and habitats in Shark Reef. At 1.6 million gallons, the aquarium is one of the largest and most sophisticated in the world. There are more than 2,000 animals on display here, including 15 different types of sharks and a rare Komodo dragon.Only a mythical resort like Mandalay Bay could bring you eating beyond the sumptuous. It features more than 20 restaurants spread throughout the complex offering everything from gourmet dining to quick-and-easy favorites. Awaken your taste buds at master chef Rick Moonen’s RM seafood, which is known for the inventive seafood menu and sprawling sushi/raw bar. Moonen's steampunk-inspired RX Boiler Room is located on the second floor of RM seafood. Along with unforgettable cuisine, renowned chef Charlie Palmer's award-winning Aureole features a spectacular four-story wine-tower attended to by "wine angels" on a high-tech suspension system. Enjoy the exquisite creations at Fleur by Hubert Keller and in Stripsteak, where chef Michael Mina uses only sustainable foods like all-natural meat, line-caught seafood and fresh produce. Kumi Japanese Restaurant and Bar showcases the innovative Japanese cuisine of chef Toshiyuki Motoyama. Island life was made for laid-back meals al fresco at the Border Grill, which boasts vibrant Mexican dishes by chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger. Citizens Kitchen and Bar is a delicious American bistro that's open 24 hours. Grab a casual bite at Rí Rá, Raffles Café, The Noodle Shop, Slice of Vegas or the Burger Bar, indulge in an abundant variety of favorites at the Bayside Buffet or devour the Baja-influenced cuisine at Hussong's Cantina -- as no matter what, Mandalay Bay's dining scene is sure to satisfy your appetite. At the resort, there's also a wide variety of places to dance, soak up sounds spun by a DJ, chug a beer or share an intimate nightcap. In Eyecandy Sound Lounge & Bar, you'll find an elegant lounge setting along with high-tech touch tables that allow you to create images and send messages to fellow patrons. Delight in live entertainment, sexy libations and a stunning view at Mix Lounge in THEhotel. For a fun and unique experience, step into the Minus 5 Ice Lounge, where you can sit on an ice couch and drink from an ice glass, or the speakeasy-style 1923 Bourbon & Burlesque by Holly Madison (opening May 1, 2014). Red Square marked by the massive, headless Lenin statue, also possesses an ice bar along with 200 varieties of vodka. The nightclub Light, the first ever turned on by Cirque du Soleil, merges state-of-the-art production, theatrics and world-renowned DJs and performers.Catch your favorite sporting events on 17 giant screens placed throughout the resort's expansive, 300-seat race and sports book. You can also feast on snacks like pastrami sandwiches and burgers at the Sports Book Grill.Dedicated to delighting the senses of every guest, Mandalay Bay has two spas, Spa Mandalay and the Bathhouse at THEhotel, both of which offer an unparalleled range of culturally inspired world treatments and therapeutic services. The Cardio Center has everything you need to stay in shape while on vacation, including the latest cardio and strength-training equipment. And famed tattoo artist Mario Barth has brought Starlight Tattoo to the House of Blues, where guests can get inked by their choice of Japanese, Samoan or Western techniques.Mandalay Bay features plenty of shopping as well. Forget Madison Avenue and Rodeo Drive. The Shoppes at Mandalay Place offer an equally impressive atmosphere. Along with all the fashion and accessories stores located on a 100,000-square-foot sky bridge that connects Mandalay Bay and Luxor, you'll come across eclectic merchants like a barber spa, a sock market and the largest Guinness store outside of Ireland.Rounding out the hotel's wealth of amenities are three wedding chapels, a poker room and a 135,000-square-foot casino with everything from Batman-themed slots to blackjack, craps and roulette. There is even a complimentary, 24-hour tram that runs between Mandalay Bay, Luxor and Excalibur.Your experience as a guest at Mandalay Bay will feel just like home, only happier -- thanks to spacious rooms and suites that are artfully designed and contain upscale amenities like pillow-top beds, big-screen plasma TVs, iHome clock radios, cordless phones, multi-jet spa tubs and more.  The promise of exotic extravagance combined with every type of dining and entertainment alternative imaginable is yours at Mandalay Bay. You could stay here for a week -- without leaving -- and every day will still be filled with new experiences. It truly provides you with the best of Las Vegas in one resort destination.-- By Renée LiButti

Do our 4 year old and 7 year old have to carry a room key with them to get access to pools, etc.?

regarless they need a parent with them, they are not allowed by themselves, they will end up back to your hotel room with some one escorting them. so as long you have a key you will be fine. remember no kids can walk by themselves at the resorts becaus eof the casino area.

Although it may seem preposterous, some hotels in Las Vegas are geared to kids -- like Circus Circus, which is located at the northern end of the Strip. Book a room here and the whole family will be able to embark on a flight of fancy.Start your adventure at The Adventuredome, a five-acre theme park situated beneath a climate-controlled dome covered with pink glass. It contains at least 25 unique rides. The brave at heart can hop on the Canyon Blaster, a double-loop, double-corkscrew roller coaster. The younger set is sure to enjoy Miner Mike, a runaway coal train, or the Thunderbirds, a squadron of not-so-high-flying 1920s-style airplanes. Plus, several virtual reality film rides are broadcast in the FX Theatre, including "SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D" and "Happy Feet: Mumble's Wild Ride 4-D," for all ages. The Adventuredome has recently added a new roller coaster -- El Loco. After a 90-foot ascent, the 72-second ride offers negative G drops, gravity-defying turns and over-the-edge twists.Parents looking for more adult-oriented pastimes can play slots in the nearby Skyrise Casino or head downstairs to the main casino floor, where there is race and sports book, more than 40 table games (note: free lessons in poker, blackjack, roulette and craps are offered daily) and more than 1,500 of the latest slot and video poker machines.Ironically, situated above is the famed Circus Circus Midway, where you can win stuffed animals and other toys by trying your luck at one of more than 200 popular carnival games. In the center of all the action is the Midway Stage, home to free live circus acts featuring performers from around the world. Shows run every half hour from early afternoon until late at night. You'll actually encounter clownin' around everywhere on the property. Since opening in 1968, Circus Circus has presented roving clowns and other beloved circus acts not only on stages in the Midway and The Adventuredome, but also wandering the floor space throughout both facilities -- this includes the lobby, the shopping promenade and other gathering spots. Clowns are like ambassadors at Circus Circus. In addition to their merrymaking, they answer questions, give directions and make any waits in line pass by enjoyably. When it's time to eat, you'll find something for everyone at this resort -- from quick snacks to full-service restaurants and the massive Circus Buffet. Is there free parking onsite for a pickup truck and car trailer and if so is the parking lot secure? Are there any other hotel taxes, fees etc.? etc.

yes there is plenty of free parking, there is a height requirement, i saw a mini van bearly make it, so if your trailer is bigger than a mini van, then you are out of luck. there is a 12.99$ per night fee, i end up paying around 65$. watch out with the time share people they'll ask you if you are over 25 and were you from then they say they will give tickets for 25 dollars and total value of those would be 300 dollars. i went to their seminar, i felt almost like i was being kidnapped so always say not interested!!!!
