The Quad Resort & Casino is being transformed into The LINQ Hotel & Casino. All of the rooms as well as the pool deck, spa and retail area are being renovated. Construction has already begun. The name change will be official on Oct. 30, 2014, with construction due to be completed by spring 2015. The resort will remain open throughout construction. If you're looking for a Vegas resort with a prime location at the center of the Strip and very affordable prices, a good place to keep at the top of your mind is The Quad Resort & Casino. Much of The Quad's interior and exterior have been refurbished. Among the new elements are a renovated porte cochere, casino floor and Catalyst Bar. The Quad is also connected to The LINQ, an outdoor entertainment, shopping and dining district that houses the High Roller observation wheel. O'Sheas Casino has debuted as well -- with three bars, 11 table games, 15 video poker machines and six beer pong tables. Caesars Entertainment has announced that The Quad will be rebranded as The LINQ Hotel & Casino on Oct. 30, 2014. As part of a $223 million renovation project, the property's 2,256 rooms and suites will be remodeled to feature contemporary decor elements as well as pillow-top mattresses, 47-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations with speakers and rain shower heads. In addition, a new pool area (featuring both a standard hotel pool and a dayclub experience), a new lobby bar, a new spa and fitness center, and the new Vortex Roof Deck, are under construction and will debut in spring 2015.The Quad is an always-bustling, mid-sized property situated within walking distance from several of the city's most famous resorts -- including Caesars Palace, The Mirage, Flamingo, Bally's and Harrah's.The Quad also boasts a Las Vegas Monorail stop, which means you'll have easy access to most of the hotels up and down South Las Vegas Boulevard.Catering to visitors of all ages and from all walks of life, The Quad is not a stuffy, elite-style resort. The amenities are spread throughout several floors. The ground floor houses the action-packed casino. It tends to be crowded around the clock. One of focal points in the casino is the Dealertainers pit. You can sit down at blackjack tables where celebrity impersonators dressed as Beyoncé, Elvis, Pink and many more deal the cards. Often, they have to excuse themselves to belt out one of their character's hits from the elevated stage.Take the escalator to the second floor and you'll discover additional entertainment options. Jeff Civillico does comedy juggling and other stunts in the afternoon. You can also see the drag extravaganza "Divas Las Vegas" starring Frank Marino in the evening. Or Recycled Percussion, a group that pounds away on everything from buckets and trash cans to ladders and power tools, also perform in a rock 'n' roll-oriented production in the evening. The place to drink at the resort is Fat Tuesday, where you can order a variety of frozen daiquiris, perfect to cool you down during the hot summer months. Beers and cocktails of all kinds are available in the casino at the Catalyst Bar. TAG Lounge & Bar also offers more than 300 bottled, can and large-format brews from the U.S. and around the world -- you can even serve yourself at pour-your-own-draft tables. If history is more your thing, check out The Auto Collections. More than 250 classic or historically significant vehicles are being displayed on the fifth floor of the hotel's self-parking garage -- some of which are for sale.?The Quad is home to several great dining options. Chef Guy Fieri, of Food Network's top-rated show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," has opened his first Las Vegas restaurant -- called Guy Fieri's Kitchen & Bar -- at the north entrance of the resort. South-of-the-border cuisine along with an array of margaritas and a mechanical bull are offered at Chayo Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar at the south end of the property. The Quad also boasts has a Hash House A Go Go. The chain restaurant is known for its delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner comfort foods -- which come in oversized portions. Watch the big games on one of the 12 large screens in the spacious sports book on the third floor. Horse racing fans will be impressed by the stadium-style seating, complete with 230 individual monitors.Work up a sweat in the fitness center. You can get a manicure in The Salon at The Quad, but the spa is currently closed for renovation.Clean and comfortable, The Quad's towers feature a variety of accommodations ranging from classic rooms with all the basics to deluxe "luv tub" rooms that have spa tubs thrown into the mix. Plus, pet-loving guests are welcome to bring their four-legged friends (weighing less than 50 pounds) to lodge in the special PetStay rooms. For those wanting to tie the knot, the Silver Sky Chapel features two fine venues: the signature Skyline Chapel and the Southwestern Chapel with a desert motif. The resort has a stretch of souvenir stores located near the room elevators as well. Shops include Amparo, Whiskey Run, Gifts to Go and Relaxation Palace. The Quad is a resort offering value-oriented accommodations. Whether you are coming to party with a group of friends, bringing your family for a vacation or attending a conference, the hotel is sure to suit you.-- By Renée LiButtiNOTE: Due to construction at The Quad, as it is being transformed into The LINQ Hotel & Casino, guests may may encounter temporary inconveniences, construction walls and some noise during daytime hours. The Quad's spa and pool are currently closed for remodeling. Guests can use the Beach Club pool at Flamingo Las Vegas or the pools at Paris Las Vegas and the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

Great Location but in need of a remodel and carpet cleaning
PostedMarch 5, 2014
My husband and I had wonderful time at the hotel and while the room was not necessarily dirty, the pictures on vegas.com of the rooms did not look like our room at all. The pictures are depicting what the remodels are going to look like and not the real rooms. The carpets were in serious need of some cleaning or TLC and the furniture was a bit worn but otherwise it was a good deal for the price we paid. We'd stay there again if the deal was right.

Discover the days of yore on your Vegas vacation. The Excalibur endeavors to re-create the Middle Ages, a time filled with adventure and enchantment. Centrally located amid all the action at the southern end of the Strip, the storybook-like fortress boasts a drawbridge and moat. Other medieval touches can be spotted throughout the architecture and décor, such as turreted towers, stone columns, wood paneling and candle chandeliers. The Excalibur is perfect for families because they can let their young ones act like knights and fair ladies. The Fun Dungeon is among the themed activities. It's packed with carnival-style games. The expansive pool area has a thrilling waterslide -- as well as 17 decked-out cabanas for parents. After dark, everyone can attend the "Tournament of Kings," where they'll experience the gallantry and equestrian feats from one of the tales about King Arthur. The arena is spectacular, and in addition to cheering on your knight, there is a three-course dinner to be eaten with your fingers.Opened in 1990, the castle has undergone extensive "modernization" to appeal to singles and mature travelers without kids. Additional entertainment offerings are definitely geared toward grown-ups. Women will go crazy for the hot Thunder from Down Under troupe (the men strip off nearly everything onstage!). Plus, disco aficionados will revel in the rich vocal harmonies at "The Australian Bee Gees Show."Only a fabled resort can bring you dining beyond the ordinary. For gourmet fare, the Excalibur features The Steakhouse at Camelot. A Zagat Award winner, this steakhouse prepares fine cuts of beef, fresh seafood and decadent desserts. Enjoy Old World hospitality and family-style service at the beloved Italian restaurant chain Buca di Beppo. All ages can indulge in the bountiful Excalibur Buffet. Johnny Rockets serves favorites for breakfast, lunch, dinner including hamburgers, fries and premium ice cream shakes. Or grab quick, casual meals in the Castle Walk Food Court. Extremely large at 25,000 square feet, it's home to Schlotzsky's, Cinnabon, Hot Dog on a Stick, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Pick Up Stix, Schlotzsky's, Tropical Smoothie Café, Auntie Anne's Soft Rolled Pretzels, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Popcornopolis. The over-21 crowd will have a blast at Dick's Last Resort. It's perfect for nightlife-loving visitors. The bar and stage in there are always rocking, and when guests get hungry they can turn to a menu of pub grub complete with Macho Nachos, Mumbo Jumbo Chicky Wings and the Big Ass Burger. Or spend a high-energy night in the Octane Lounge, a classic rock bar with a display of custom-designed motorcycles. Among the signature drinks are the Blood, Sweat & Gears Cosmo and the High Octane Kiss, served by bartenders dressed in black leather. The resort's casino floor has also assumed a party-like vibe. On the weekends an area dubbed "The Party Pit" features table games set near a stage topped with scantily clad dancing girls. And the 12-table poker room hosts a sexy "Strip Poker Tournament" on Saturday nights, where guests can watch a lovely lady remove items of her clothing on losing hands. The Lounge, also located on the casino floor, features Miami all-girl band Dollface who perform a variety of music styles from pop to punk.Staying at the Excalibur is not about roughing it. Most of the rooms have been renovated and offer a contemporary take on castle-themed accommodations. The widescreen rooms come with granite countertops, 42-inch plasma TVs, pillow-top mattresses and iPod-compatible clock radios. Even the standard rooms are very comfortable with wood furnishings, cable TVs and hair dryers.Need a bit of pampering? Everyone can be a king or queen for the day at The Spa at Excalibur. Overlooking the pool area, it provides a selection of massages, facials, scrubs and wraps and uses Aveda products exclusively in its treatments. And romance never goes out-of-date at the Excalibur. The Canterbury Wedding Chapel is cherished by couples who wish to celebrate their big day traditionally or in medieval attire. If your family or friends are looking to get away from it all, the Excalibur promises endless activity for all ages -- while still being a child-friendly haven. With an ideal location on the Strip as well as a tram that connects it to the Luxor and Mandalay Bay, the Excalibur is a good-quality, value-oriented resort. In fact, if a trip to the real castles of England is out of your price range, then a visit here will more than suffice.-- By Renée LiButti

Great Value!!

We had a wonderful time. My only word of caution would be using spirit airlines. In that case you get what you pay for. There are fees to bring any kind of luggage including carry ons and there are no "snacks" on the flight. You also have hardly any space between seats so you are really squished with the row in front of you. If you can pack everything in a back pack and don't care about how you get to vegas you can get a really good deal. We got married at the Excalibur and the ceremony was wonderful and the service we received there was great.

Do you have early check-in/late check out and if so cost?

We were told we could check out at noon for free (an hour past the normal time) or pay half price for the room to stay until 4pm. You can check your bags at the bell station and wonder around town like we did until we left. We spent a couple hours watching sports in the casino before we left.

Shining in the spotlight of the Las Vegas Strip, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino boasts gourmet restaurants, world-class shopping and dazzling entertainment that has hotel-casino patrons cheering for an encore.Like the plot of a motion picture, this classic Las Vegas casino -- where Elvis and Priscilla Presley were married -- once rose from the dead: It was imploded in 1998 and then rebuilt from the ground up. As for its most recent dazzling special effect, the Aladdin lifted the curtain to Hollywood in Sin City when it was reborn as Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Since Planet Hollywood's arrival, the property has made a metamorphosis from its lackluster Arabian-theme into a high-tech, retro-chic attraction unlike any other Strip property.Though infused with a taste of Hollywood culture, the vibe at Planet Hollywood is intended to be welcoming and unpretentious. Who knows, you might even find yourself sitting down to play blackjack next to Jack Black. The hotel's movie theme is played out in the rooms through film memorabilia displayed in custom-designed cabinetry. The glamorous 12,800-square-foot lobby at Planet Hollywood has eight chandeliers, each comprised of 66,000 individually hand-strung crystals. Black granite floors, textured glass walls and large columns beckon guests to the check-in desk, where bands of LED lights continuously change color. The 100,000-square-foot casino appears to be in constant motion with glowing rectangular light fixtures, which change colors from red to blue to green to purple. Tall pillars with either geometric patterns or stripes reach from the floor to the ceiling, and neon LED lights brighten the walls. More than 250 flat screen televisions can be found topping slot machines, while 87 table games await those ready to try their luck. Additional gaming options, include a race and sports book and a poker room. For a bite to eat, head to the Spice Market Buffet or choose from the large menu at the 24-hour coffee shop Planet Dailies. Upstairs on the mezzanine level, Strip House redefines the traditional steakhouse with an innovative menu in a sexy, vintage atmosphere, while Koi, a well-recognized L.A. restaurant and lounge, combines the exotic Far Eastern aura with the energy and style of Hollywood. On the casino level, the first Las Vegas outpost of Earl of Sandwich makes sandwich eating a gourmet treat and the festive cantina Yolos provides a modern tribute to Mexican culture. And Gordon Ramsay BurGR takes the traditional burger to a new level.Planet Hollywood's Strip entrances are eye-catching and easy to access. They are clearly marked with escalators or stairs leading people off the Strip and into the property. Music plays at the doorways while color-changing orbs decorate the front of the hotel. There is also a clear entrance to the attached Miracle Mile Shops, which is owned separately from the hotel. The mammoth mall has more than 140 stores and dozen restaurants -- like Urban Outfitters, Build-A-Bear Workshop, GAP Body, BCBG Max Azaria and bebe -- incorporating something for every discerning taste. There are also several restaurants including the Meatball Spot, which offers an array of gourmet meatballs, authentic flatbreads, gourmet sandwiches and a salad bar with 36 different toppings. As expected in Hollywood, Planet Hollywood is packed with high-caliber entertainment. It's home to pop icon Britney Spears, who is starring in "Britney: Piece of Me." Staged in The Axis, a state-of-the-art theater, this is one of the largest indoor immersive productions in the world. "Sin City Comedy & Burlesque," a combination of world-class stand-up with sinfully sexy burlesque, and "Compendium -- Rock 'N Roll All Night," a U2 tribute show, are in the Sin City Theatre on the Mezz level. "RockTellz & CockTails," which is featuring a series of legacy artists (such as Meat Loaf and The Jacksons) who perform as well as share stories from their careers, and "Sydney After Dark," a sexy female revue from Australia, run in the PH Showroom. "Viva Veracruz! The Show," a journey through the enchanted folklore of Veracruz, Mexico, will open on July 28, 2014. Comedian Jeff Dunham and his troupe of sidekicks will also begin appearing there on Nov. 28, 2014.Center stage in the casino of Planet Hollywood is a circular hot spot called the Heart Bar, a place to hang out with the beautiful people while sipping on drinks served by cocktail waitresses in black leather go-go attire. Guests can grab their 15 minutes of fame at the Extra Lounge, the new Las Vegas headquarters for the correspondents and crew of television's "Extra." Located near the hotel's front entrance, this 24-hour bar is the perfect spot to see who's coming and going. For a tranquil retreat from the flurry of shoppers, concert goers and gamblers, the Planet Hollywood Spa by Mandara offers relaxing body therapies from around the world, as well as saunas and steam rooms. With such superior treatment, you will truly feel like a movie star.--Staff Report

The 15 dollars is that per person and per day?

Yes. I hated that fee and think it is not a good company practice. We did not use the internet and never got a news paper. It seemed completely pointless and the rate of the room should of just been $15 more than advertised.
